Volt Meter Question

I have recently replaced all three batteries on my boat and the volt meter on the instrument panel shows the port battery pegged at 16 and the starboard battery at 14 1/4 or 14 1/2, where it should be. I currently have the port alternator off having it checked to make sure the internal regulator is OK, any other suggestions?

Devin, Put boat size, engines etc... in your signature and it will speed up a reply. My cats peg in at about 14. JC

My Starboard meter is @ 15.5 and port @ 14.5......
I have had the boat for the past year and it always reads this way....

Get the reading at the battery with a good quality voltmeter known to be accurate.

Best regards,
Frank

I had a problem with the Teleflex volt meter it read high. I verified it was bad by reading the voltage off the back of the Teleflex meter with a volt ohm meter. The volt ohm meter read same voltage as the battery and the Teleflex gauge read high.

I have a problem with my Port batteries and DC system. With nothing on, I measure 13.9 VDC on the batterys, both new. Turn on any lights and voltage drops a few tenths. Continue to turn on more stuff, the voltage contuines to drop. AC converter will drop to 12.9 volts. At the cross over relay I read 12.6 volts. At the helm on the instruments, I get 12.2 VDC.
