I have a 180 bowrider outboard, year 2000 with water in the gas. Installed a water separator but continue to have problems. Can't find where water is getting in. Put cover over gas cap but that didn't solve problem. Anyone else have this problem with this model?

If your fueling up at a gas station while on the trailer, your putting in ethenol gas. Ethenol gas will seperate in amonth or so, and also attracts water (usually through the vent). Make sure you use additives if you fuel up at a gas station..... Very important.

For now, load up with ethenol additives to try and save your gas.......This may help.

I just changed all of the fuel filters on my 380DA, the three water separators had no water in them at all and I boat in a area that has 10% ethanol in the fuel. I believe that the Startron additive is the reason, I've been using it for the the last 3 seasons on this and my last boat and have had no issues with water in my fuel.

I had this problem w. my old (1987) sea ray. It was basically due to condensation from the air, I suspect. No way to stop it; just use Dri-gas or similar product to dry up the water, and try to keep your tank full when not in use.
