Ok I asked this in another thread, with no comments so I will ask here

Not a Sea Ray, but here is the ad from the Jacksonville Times-Union paper web site;

42 foot 4160 Regal 2001 Twin Cummins 370\'s, Low hours, Just take over payments 904-280-3367 42 foot 4160 Regal 2001 Twin Cummins 370\'s, Low hours, Just take over payments 904-280-3367

After looking on line for some ads for 42 foot 4160 Regals 2001 models, I have to ask, just what the hell are these made from? Gold? I found more then one ad with a starting price of $299,000.00 for 2001 models.

Maybe a dumb question, but don't you think you would get a better response in a Regal forum versus a Sea Ray forum???

No not a dumb question, but from my experience many members here at CSR look at all manner of boats, and usually are familiar with different models.

I know I have read comments regarding Bayliners, Bluewater, Meridians, Formula, Tiara's, Carver's etc. here. I know that I look at other makes all the time when I have the opportunity.

I know for myself a 2001, 42 foot Regal model 4160 asking price of $299,000.00 appears a bit steep to me, even for an asking price. I admit I am not that knowledgeable about the Regal brand, so I am asking, thought I have been on board a few Regals, and from what I saw in my opinion I preferred Sea Ray over the Regals I looked at within the same same size category, and similar layouts.

Why not? Don't know if you can get it unless you ask. It is a nice boat and there aren't another 200 of them on the market. It's always easier to reduce the price if it doesn't sell than increase it.

The last Regal I priced out was the 4460 back in... 2006 or 2006. Fully loaded with the exception of piddly, useless stuff like bow sunpads and the washer dryer it was quite a bit less than a 420DA, even with the IPS drives.

Or the 300K guy is upside down on his loan and has to see it for that. Wish I remembered what the new price for the 4260 was in 01. Oh well. Might have that paperwork at home, but my wife probably threw it out. She likes doing that.

Best regards,
Frank

A couple are on the market; the guy who runs Red Line is not sombody I would do business with, but this may be the real deal:

WIth the 480 Volvo IBs this was around a 39 Knot WOT boat. The guys at the Regal forum that had the boat were fairly pleased with it. I have never run one. I like my 420DA.

I agree about the guy at Redline, full of himself.

I have run a 44 Regal with IPS drives and the thing flat out hauls ass while being whisper quiet. I prefer the Sea Rays layouts inside but the cockpits on the 44 Regals are very nicely laid out.

All of that being said, I would prefer to be in a 410,420,44,460,48 DA in anything over 3's. Just personal preference speaking from very intimate experience!

Thanks for the answers, but even at the link above

This is a 44 foot,2008 model and the asking price is $339,000.00, true I guess it is not a 4160 model, which is smaller and seven years older with an asking price of $299,000.00 hence my asking the question in the first place.

Not about anyone getting their knickers in a wad, but more out of curiosity. Even with an asking price of $299,000.00 albeit it is a diesel and mine is not, it is still more then twice (plus a good bit more) the asking price I paid for my boat.

Like I have said I am just curious, and was looking for a possible reason.

People will set a price as high as possible and then work down from asking price...very difficult to go the other way!

The 4160 is the same boat as the 44.

I had a regal while on Lake Erie, very sea worthy boat, well put together, but just not a Sea Ray...This boat is just over priced in a flooded market. Mama might of told him to list it, and he did , at a price that would never sell it....
