Those "catch pans" that Home Depot sells work good to catch the oil drips. They even have a place to put a valve to pour with.
There are relatively easy things that can be done to these motorcycles to drastically reduce the amount of oil dripped, if not eliminate it completely. But, yes; they definitely have their problems. As my grandfather said, "Who invented the British motorcycle? British Petroleum."

Since the move, my top most recents have been CSR, Menards, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, & Scheels. Craigslist swaps with Home Depot from time-to-time because I keep looking at side-by-sides.
Since you moved to northern Wi. Are you thinking about picking up a sled?

Old Triumphs, Nortons and Harleys don't leak. They just mark their favorite spots so rice burners don't enter.

Back in the day, I owned a Triumph Bonneville (1971) and a Honda 350 (1972) at the same time. The Triumph shifter/brake were right/left, while the Honda was modern day left/right. It required some serious focus when switching between the two motorcycles, and made for some interesting stopping/shifting scenarios.
