Z- Drive Transmission Trouble Shooting

My 2007 340 Sundancer Z drive transmission makes
a faint knocking noise when first placed into gear. After a couple of minutes, the noise goes away>

Likely damper plates going bad. If you push the power up slightly and it goes away that's the issue.

You can live with it or pull and separate the engines and transmissions to replace

Take a few minutes and read this thread. Starting at #12. Listen to the video too. While mine was not as loud as the video, it saved me a lot of stress. It may be as dt suggests, but take a few to go through the post I attached.

Rattling in transmission when I put in gear.

I have a Sundancer 380 with 8.1S Horizon V-Drives in them. I recently had my shaft and seal replaced in my starboard engine. Since then, when I put in gear (Forward or Reverse) there is a rattling coming from what I can tell is the transmission. The mechanic said it's normal but it wasn't...
