Holy cow that was pushing it! I didn't think there were any boats left in the water at CI.

You'll like this one. This Lake Michigan.Woody, those pics are really amazing. I'd hate to be out there in any boat smaller than the state of Rhode Island.
I'm still picking up leaves from our Willow. Heavy winds last night with gusts up to ~40 and that brought most of them down. Still about two pickups left, but I'm not griping because I do it with the riding mower.

Lake Superior surfers love this stuff.

Moving again. weather outside sucks so restricted to icw. Should be in FL early next week.
Yes saw the pictures, ty.
Left the boat in Charleston SC before thanksgiving.
Would like to get to Miami on this leg. Depends on how soon weather improves outside. May only make it to Cocoa village or fort pierce. Have to head back home for Christmas at some point.
I work for MSC Industrial Supply and our Corp. HQ is in Davidson, NC. I love going down there for meetings. The hotel we stay in is right on the lake and I love looking at boats out on the lake in the evening.

In September already there were freighters heading to safe harbor up here. Here's some recent news coverage.... https://www.mprnews.org/story/2018/10/10/photos-big-waves-lake-superior
We have a condo at Catawba Bay (off Muggy Rd) the development has it's own marina. Unfortunately no living on your boat here. I have a buddy who stayed in Fox Haven as long as I did.. maybe that would work. That is awesome!
What marina are you at? I'm looking to move as I live on my boat and my marina makes everyone be out by the 1st week in November. I've been looking at other marinas for the 2019 season and it would be great to stay in the water longer and be able to save a couple of months expenses at the condo or get rid of it altogether. I want to stay on Catawba Island unless I found somewhere nice that I could stay in year round. I also need 2 docks for summer time. I'll continue to pull the center console at the end of the season though...
Please advise.
Thank you in advance!
I'd like to stay in the water longer. I don't mind the colder temps, it's the winds that start blowing Sept and on that are the problem. I store on the otherside of the lake and my last run each season is 120 miles to get there. You have to watch for the window and go when you get it. A year ago my trip over turned into one like you describe. It started out nice, then squall after squall popped up and stirred that lake up really, really bad. Legs spread and braced, both hands on the wheel, I had all I could do to stay in the seat.I just saw this post. We made the trip on 10/19/18 up from Saugatuck to Holland to put our 390 away for the winter. West side of Lake MI was getting this storm that day. Lake had laid down nice on the west side on 10/18, but I couldn't get away to move the boat, so it had to be on 10/19. This was definitely the hairiest ride I have been on in 30+ years on the water. The bouy in Port Sheldon (north side of Holland) was reading consistent waves of 9.6 - 9.8 feet while we were under way (you can ping the bouy and it will text you live data). There were legitimate random 14+ foot waves out that day. I wasn't sure we were going to make it. Thankfully the authorities were not on the water that day as I had to run into the channel on full plane in order to maintain safe control of the boat. Ran on plane all the way through the channel to avoid being blown into the seawall.
