I love the look of those Dandy Dom Davits, but I just ordered the Hurley davits based upon a number of good number recommendations. What I had been doing was just hauling the RIB onto the platform (with engine on) and tying it down. That's been getting harder every year (I can't imagine why). So the Hurley's will have to be an imprivement!
I'm not handy enough for a DIY although I love that the Dom system uses lower profile attachments than the toe-stubbers that come with the Hurley (I ordered the protective covers... we'll see... I have a Plan B for that if it doesn't work).
Lastly, Asureyez you are sooooooo right in that a hydraulic platform is the way to go. My buddy has one for his center console "mini-yacht" at it is so easy to use it's embarrassing!
