You have actual speed limits? Ours are all no wake zones. My pitot tube speedo reads 20mph on plane at 3050rpm. GPS apps on phone read 25. And real accurate in a 6mph zone when dash speedo doesn’t register. And apps allow speed recording so if cop stops me I can dispute the speed charges. Basically, forget the dash speedo.
He has vDrives. No pitot tube. GPS speed reading is all you need. My Tridata ST50 paddle wheel speedo is not accurate and not worth fixing. I intend to use that dash space for something else eventually. My pitot tube speedo reads 20mph on plane at 3050rpm. GPS apps on phone read 25. Thanks , i was and still is alot to learn , at the beginning i felt at times that i was drinking from a fire hoseThat's one helluva "first" boat.
ThanksNice boat... welcome to the club
Thanks , You are right , the paddle wheel was broken, had a new one put in, we picked the boat about 2 weeks ago and noticed that speedometer was still not working, DAMN!!!!! we dedided to keep sailing to our marina, 2 hours away, and deal with it after. The marina is aware and will take care of me but i decided not now. I looked at the thru sensor and i am wondering if it is properly aligned!!! Once water is warm , i will check when in the shallows.Welcome! I see in your signature you have issues with your speedometer? I’m going to go out on a limb and assume this is the speed reported by a paddle wheel sort of transducer. First most likely culprit would be fouling due to being in the water. I’ll also assume you have a chart plotter and suggest you try to substitute the gps speed for the the water wheel speed on your screens. I have a Garmin and this is pretty easily done. Ultimately, that is the speed you are most interested in when traveling from point to point.
Good Luck, this is our first year boating and the wife and I love it!
Couldn’t find a picture of a 6. But ya, ours have a posted limit which I always thought was stupid cause boat speedo don’t register til at least 10mph.You have actual speed limits? Ours are all no wake zones.
ThanksPierre, congrats on the beautiful boat and welcome to CSR.
It would be nice if you completed the information on your signature page so we know where you live and do your boating. Like the others have said, don't worry about your dash speedo. Keep in mind it measures speed through the water, not speed over ground. Use your GPS and you will be spot on.
