Not to hijack too bad, but Alex do you have a platform lift or do you have a cradle lift (Freedom Lift or equivalent) that extends out past your platform?

What made you pick aluminum over fiberglass? I'm having this debate right now!
Does anyone have a problem with their ratchet strap being too long? What I mean is that the distance from the bow's trailer hook down to my swim platform is about 12 inches and the straps I'm using have a fully ratcheted length of about 13 inches.

JamesT , I have that problem the only way I've solved it was to attach the straps to an eye pad inside the dinghy and over the tubes down to the platform, criss crossed of course. I thought about the turnbuckle route but I've strapped many many heavy objects down to the deck of trucks running at emergency speeds and always crossed the lashings and have them pull in different directions.
Sandy, I don't do anything special I will take pics this weekend. I can say that Nylon straps DO stretch and cargo companies recommend polyester straps actually. our Nylon straps have stretched while underway. I will be switching to polyester/stainless ratchet straps soon.
