You use a chain stopper to take the load off the anchor windlass which helps reduce premature wear on the bearings etc and prevents accidental release. When you get to the rope portion of the anchor rode you can run the rope to a cleat...
Oh yeah...so they had the Oscars. (Yawn) I stopped watching that self-congratulatory leftist bunch years ago. I got tired of the politically correct speeches and the conservative bashing. They got what they deserved...an audience of celebrity worshiping leftists.
Give the boating industry a tax break.
You tax what you want less of. If you want to break their backs for good and send the jobs overseas then keep taxing the hell out of US businesses.
Perhaps government needs to cut back just like everyone else has? Raising taxes to compensate for less...
Every six months is overkill. I run an oceanic research vessel for a living. A once a month visual inspection by the operator is recommended. A once per year weighing and inspection by a professional is sufficient.

I have a hydraulic PTO on the port engine on the boat I run for a living. It has more engine hours because I frequently need to use the hydraulics when stopped and it makes no sense to keep the starboard engine idling doing nothing.
I'm waiting for a tablet whose manufacturer does not have a control freak as their CEO. Maybe Google will produce a good open source tablet for 300 bucks which has access to millions of books and thousands of magazines?
I'm probably dreaming.
I just looked into ordering some gelcoat for my boat from Spectrum. Spectrum can match the color of your original gelcoat if you give them the make, model, year and color of your boat. I offered my hull ID number as well but they said that would not be necessary in order to provide a color...
Find a low power 12VDC television. Inverters are not 100% power efficient.
I assume you want to be able to sit at anchor for long periods of time with the generator off.
One poster seems to be confusing current with power. Power usage is what matters and the units for power are watts, not...
