San Souci,
I put in Group 31s for the port and starboard and a Group 27 for the generator. So far, so good for me. I like the idea of the 8-D but space is an issue If you do not have the spare props on the port side, you might be able to get one forward of the generator starting battery, but...
I presume you do not have the cockpit step:
It mounts into brackets on the sidewall and is removeable.
I do not know if any remain available or if you can find anything similar.
PS - we have all kicked the horns more than once. Always fun when barefoot ;):)
We usually go up to the bow via the port side as the starboard has the air horns and shore power connections. We also have the full enclosure and leave the Bimini top up.

The middle cushion has snaps on the front edge so it can be flipped over and leaves the wood step/bench exposed to allow you to use it to get to the gunwale. I can take a picture of it when I get home to the boat later.
I am actually taking a boater safety course today (as a refresher...
My boat has the “wrap-around” seating in the cockpit. Forms a nice social and sitting area.

Similar idea, but we wanted the brushed-nickel.
After a wonderful 8 seasons, we are putting our beloved 1994 Sea Ray 400 Express up for sale. This wonderfully designed and built vessel is ready to become a part of her next family.
The boat has under 1900 hours on her hull while the remanufactured 7.4 litre Mercruisers have approximately 200...
Great write up Jim! Brought back a lot of memories for me. Went on my honeymoon (20 years ago) to the BVI. We stayed at the Bitter End Yacht Club for 10 days with trips to Saba Rock, the Baths, etc. A trip back to the BVI was always running through my mind, you just made me want to start...
It is not too bad, as long as the bolts are not rusted or the bolt spins in the wood panel. If the panels are as rotted as you say, it is possible that a bolt or two may spin and you may not get the nuts off. A couple of mine were like that.
