Looking to get some input on what I could do differently to protect my boat when it's in the slip. There are two pilings between my neighbor and I and she's tied up to stay off the dock (two sets of lines as well).

Here's the two fenders I run which offer some protection but they hit below the rub rail. And you can see the beating my other neighbor took when we had brutal north winds late last year.

Try these thepiercushion.com I have used then for several years you can move them up and down the post as water levels change. I don’t but you can take them with you if you travel.

Rick

At first glance those look awesome! They are made from the typical thick fender vinyl?

Looks like you should be able to tie the boat to completely stay off the pilings when moored? That's what I do when away. When at the boat, I release the lines away from the dock and tie the boat tight to the dock pilings make boarding easier.

That's how I tie it up. But we're right on the lake and get any wind / seiche that comes thru....raising or lowering the water level. Just looking to add some extra, oh sh*t protection for that once a year storm that always seems to hit when I can't run up there - it's 2.5 hours from my driveway to the slip.

I have the 27 round fenders. They are great for travel to places like South Haven and I use them for added protection in my home slip.

Thanks! The first link looks good and may work better than what Rick shared. Just need to measure the piling.

I think you want to get these long enough to cover your most extreme tides. with the mid point of the pad/bumper centered on your rub rail at slack tide.

The USCG uses large round fenders because they afford great protection. Hard to beat as a solution for your situation.
