For those that were asking for a thread, I thought I would start one for the cleanup of the engine room.
A little bit of history on the boat. It’s a 1985 Searay 300 Sedan Bridge with twin Mercruiser/GM 350’s and V-drive transmissions. The boat is new to us as of the fall (Sept/Oct) of last...
Hey all,
I pulled the engines out of the boat over the weekend and I’m sure glad I did. Talk about finding some goofy things. First thing that comes to mind were the power cables on both starters. Both starters had two power cables attached to them. The nuts were holding the cables on with...
I’m working on a 1985 300 Sedan Bridge with twin GM 350’s. I previous posted a thread about a heat issue on the starboard engine about two weeks ago or so. I replaced the risers and had the heat exchanger cleaned out and the heat problem is gone. I have spent the last two days working on both...
I'm sorting out a few more bugs. On a closed cooling system.
Both exhaust manifolds and risers are cool to the touch but the exhaust hoses are hot, and one hose is hotter than the other. As in, I can’t put my hand on the hose for more than a half second.
How hot should the exhaust hoses...
Quick question, I purchased an 85 300 Sedan bridge last fall. Twin GM 350’s
I have a no crank condition on the starboard engine. It will crank from the starter motor with a starter button but not at the key and the circuit breaker is working.
Following the wiring diagram it has a starter slave...
Supposedly a 40ftr. I don't see any wide load signs, orange flags, tie downs, and how did it end up in the far left hand lane?

Hey gang, I am looking for a little information, thoughts or ideas.
A friend of mine is looking for a boat and he has been going through the Searay archive’s and found the Searay Cuddy fisherman models. (picture below)
We are looking to do some Salmon and Halibut fishing in the Neah Bay...
Hey gang,
The toilet was not in my boat when I purchased it. I believe that it was the Porto-potty type and looks like it had a macerator because the key switch is there.
I am looking at options and have room to install a black water tank if need be, but I am curious as to what everybody is...
I did a bit of looking around and couldn’t really find anything solid. So, I thought I would bounce the question off of you guys. I have been told about a 1990 Sundancer that partially submerged in fresh water at the dock and it’s up for sale. I have not seen it yet but, supposedly a hose was...
Just curious if it’s normal to have a black water pump-out cap on deck and a macerator but not have a black water tank.
The original brochure shows a macerator and black water tank was an option on my boat and I assumed that it had a tank because of the two other parts, but I dug into it...
In the below 30ftr size of boat, how often do you use the stove cook top in the galley? Do some just use a BBQ attached to the rear transom rail or is a microwave used more?
I’m looking at interior ideas since I have to do some work in the cabin anyway. I know, I could potentially be...
For those of you who have interior wood experience what type of wood gives off a nice looking finish? I have been told that the current wall is mahogany with a veneer cover over it.
I am starting to work on the interior to fix some water damage and am replacing the head exterior wall and I am...
It looks like I'm no longer boat-less. I finally found what I was looking for and drug it home.
It’s a 1987 AmberJack Sportfisher 270. Twin chev V8’s and outdrives.
It needs a good cleaning, some basic maintenance and a couple of small projects done on it. Although, I'm sure I could turn it...
For those of you that do your own maintenance on your outboards or sterndrives, I have six Outboard / Sterndrive work stands for sale. $200.00 ea.
They are heavy Duty, commercial grade, and made of mild steel. Completely adjustable, the top, side arms and the tool tray all rotate 360 degrees...
The Searay website lists advertised dry weights of various boats but I am curious if anybody has ever actually ever weighed their unloaded boat for a comparison to what the website says it weighs.
For example, if the website says the dry weight is 6500 lbs. how much does it really weigh...
I am looking at a 270 Amberjack. It’s 27’ long and has a 10’ beam, probably 10k pounds loaded. It does not have a trailer so I am looking around for options. The boat will be used in saltwater. I want to go triple axle and brakes on all three axles for sure.
I have done some looking...
Anybody looking for a project in Long Island New York?
Not sure what model it is but it appears to be pretty long and has twin engines. Probably buried in snow right now too.
Will be interesting to see what it goes for. I have watched one (brand X) in my area that's been up for auction 3...
Just curious if anybody has towing experience with wide beam boats on narrow trailers?
I have to move a boat that has a beam of 9’ 8”. The chine measures 9’ and my trailer is 8’ wide on the outside edge of the fenders. The boat will stick out about 6” on either side of the trailer fenders...
Hey Gang,
Thought I would drop in and give a quick hello and tell you about a new adventure I am undertaking.
I’m not new to the boating world as I have had other boats over the years. Mostly 17’ or smaller bowriders or smaller aluminum fishing boats.
After going out into the ocean on a...
