I've been on Lake Texoma for three winters and have never winterized my 280. I have a bilge heater, keep my cabin heater set to 55 degrees and have full canvas installed. I place a high/low theremometer in the bilge, cockpit and cabin and none of them (including the cockpit) has ever registered...
We've pulled our two boys on a tube behind our 280 since we bought the boat in 2006. We started with the Airhead Super Slice and have since moved on to the Airhead G-Force. One piece of advice would be to use a 75 ft rope. The video (link below) that my son posted last year shows a 60 ft rope...
The couple we purchased our 280 from installed a hydraulic lift on our hatch as both he and his wife had trouble lifting it. It's pretty nice just pressing a button.
I had one of the screws identified below work its way out this weekend and I can't find it anywhere. I made the mistake of not taking one out that was left to bring home and use to make sure I bought the right replacement. Can anyone tell me what size screw I need here? I think its hex head...
Luckydogs...The lake at the north end where I am actually looks pretty good, still a little murky but clearing every day. However, on our way down to Buncombe Creek to get gas the lake changes color to a nasty reddish-brown just south of the North Island. I added some pics from last weekend in...
We have friends by Caney Creek, Soldier Creek, Little Glasses, and Eisenhower so much of the time we're in the north and eastern part of the lake. Not sure if the water is clearing; I'll let you know when I get down there on Thursday afternoon.
Gerryb...I gave it some thought last fall. We pull our boys behind the 280 on a tube which gets pretty expensive given fuel prices. I thought a used jetski would be good for pulling the boys, be cheaper on gas, and provide a distraction for the boys when we just want to relax at anchor. That...
Luckydogs...We're on Texoma as well but keep our 280 in a slip. The problem for us is getting to the boat!
We're heading down on Thursday and will stay a few days as we still have power and water. Unfortunatley gas and pump-out are still several weeks away.
I’m interested in doing what I can to prevent someone from siphoning gas out of my 280DA. There have been several reports during the recent flooding at Lake Texoma (Oklahoma/Texas) of fuel tanks being drained. Fortunately, I have had no problems so far but would like to know if anyone knows of...
4th of July was a complete bust and it may be some time before we're back to normal. All of the marinas on Lake Texoma are closed and with no place to buy gas or pump-out there's just no reason to go; it's so depressing. Below is a pic of our boathouse as the lake hit 638 (619 is the normal...
Lake Texoma is up over 5 feet in the past few weeks and two feet in the last 36 hours. Below are some pictures from Highport Marina on the Texas side of the lake.
