I'm considering replacing the factory installed North Star NS100 VHF radio. I'm trying to find the transceiver the antennae connects to. Does anyone have experience replacing the NS100? Where did the factory hide the "box"? If it is under the helm, how do gain access to it?
The smaller padded panel on my 2006 is held in place with the Christmas tree fasteners. I've not tried removing the upper but I'd suspect it has a few bolts holding it in place.
Nice improvement the horn, looks great. Please share the deets, I've considered a similar upgrade.
What Creekwood said or if you have access, stick a running water garden hose against the overboard discharge through hull fitting. It should prime after + - 20 seconds...presuming your seacock is turned on.
In addition to what has been mentioned above regarding surveyors. I had to replace both cone clutches in my B3's at around the 500 hr. mark. It is difficult to check them without disassembly. My early symptoms prior to them failing was while at dock approach speed, shifting from forward to...

I'm guessing in 2006 the 290 & 300DA have the same windlass. If you have an Imtra Progress 1000 windlass, it needs 5/8 dia, 3 strand nylon rope, spliced to 30 ft of 5/16, G4 galvanized chain. I finally replaced the original rope/chain rode this year, thought about all chain, then compared...
I have a small area (2" dia. maybe) of gel coat between the stringers that flaked off. It is near the drain plug; less than ideal to get at. It hasn't changed in size, and my bilge is dry during season, it doesn't concern me much.
