I doubt there's a kill switch (other than the key switch). Simple question, is the battery good, charged? Are the positive, and ground cable connections making good contact?
Pulling the starter out and testing will more than likely give you the answer. As mentioned before, the solenoid, or the...
Not sure if they used Taylor-Made hatches in '88, but my 85 25' Sundancer used them. Here is a link to the Taylor-Made website -

This weekends eye candy. Discovered that the decking below the gas tank was the last hold out of wet foam and rotten wood. Luckily it didn't transfer into the solid stringer sections. Pretty sure that is the end of the crud.
Well I am back at it a year later after having to put on back burner due to other projects. The picture links on the original post have gone away so i am re-posting them here with up to date images. Am finally very close to building up, rather than tearing down now. I was relieved to find the...
As nice as it looks from the outside, it's what's on the inside that will be the deal breaker.
If there has been standing water in the bilge, and cabin for any extended length of time, it's almost certain the buoyancy styrofoam under the decking has been saturated and has turned the...
I am getting ready to rebuild my windows too.
Here is a link to the components you'll need. These will also work for the aft cabin window as well.

The first time I got the engine started on my '85 250SRV it was making a horrible sound, like nuts and bolts inside a clothes dryer. It seemed to run fine, just sounded like it was going to fall apart! Turns out it was the anti-backwash flappers in the exhaust manifolds. They were shot, no...
I feel your pain, am currently in the transom rot removal process as well. You aren't kidding about the foam soaking up water. I started poking into the foam between the stringers with wood skewers and let them sit for a few hours and then pulled them out to see how much moisture they picked up...
Your '87 Sundancer looks very nice!
I have had to take a year off from working on it due to foot/ankle surgery, but am now getting ready to get it back in the shop for the winter. Have discovered the wood rot has extended beyond the transom forward to just inside the aft cabin area, with the...
With everything I still need to do with her, spring is going to get here before I know it. Well at least the functional issues will be done, I can deal with cosmetic issues all summer long.
Looking forward to her maiden launch at Lake Macatawa for the initial trial!
I have not had this boat in the water yet, due to the rotted out port-side transom, broken upper drive, and heavily corroded gimbal housing.
I hope the small-block 5.7 will perform satisfactory. Will be starting out with a 15x17 Merc prop.
Have got the engine ready to pull out, just trying to...
I had the same issue on my '85 Sundancer 250. Some of the fuse holders crumbled when trying to get them open. I wound up replacing them with circuit breakers that fit in the same holes as the fuse holders. They also have a silcone bubble over them.
I have done a few transom wood replacements on sterndrive setups, it's not as bad as it sounds as long as you have some basic skill using small power tools and are willing to learn a few things. The most important thing is to do research on it and do it right. I am just getting started doing the...
Bought this neglected un-maintained sundancer back in April and have been slowly chipping away at all that is wrong with it. It's been a pretty fun project so far. The more I undo that was done wrong the better it gets. I have a new SEI outdrive an Merc prop, a very good condition gimbal housing...
Hi Michael-
Yes that's the gasket. Mine was so old and dried out I couldn't tell if it was attached to the glass or the frame. It was just laying in there, and was so hard it was almost impossible to latch the hatch closed. Thanks for the info, will be stopping by Lowes on the way home from...
