Hoping you all have a thought or 2 on my what appears to me to be.......an altetnator issue:
2 inboards
Both start nicely
20 mins run time or so and the port motor dies...dependably time wise. No gasping or choking- just shuts down.
Using emergency start, the port engine will then turn over...
I have been struggling for a long time with "dripless" shaft seals..that drip. Lot of work done by a competent yard, still a problem. I know that a number of owners use the dripless and it works fine, but I havent had that kind of lucik. Aligned the engines, still a problem and I don't want...
Flounder Poinder doesn't carry these light fixtures, so I am hoping someone here has discovered a source/manufacturer for these fixtures and bulbs (led preferably, but halogen also).
Great Lakes Skipper is looking to see if they have a source for the fixtures.
They seem to use a G4,2 pin...
In their infinite wisdom, SRay invented a cigarette-pack sized box, put all the circuitry into it for 5 bilge pumps plus 2 engine indicator lites and screwed that tidy package under the dash with the lites protruding slightly above the surface of the dash. To accomplish longevity, they filled...
My boat was equipped with the resin filled tray that screwed up to the dash and provided indicator lights for my five bilge pumps plus 2 engines. Great idea, but Sea Ray no longer makes this tray containing the circuitry and the lights which now leave owners like me....paddleless up a creek...
Had a mechanic rebuild my '97 engines.
.......1000 hrs on them.
........4000- 4100 rpm WOT - 24 mph WOT with the boat at rebuild time. This is a capability, but never operated above 31 to 32k rpm.
Repair sea trial revealed the WOThrottle rpms to be 3400 on BOTH engines.
........I know he used...
In searching for OEM gauges at a Sea Ray dealer, I seem to have discovered that my '97 370 Aft Cabin came with either a lower and upper helm or just an upper. Had no idea they might have done a lower helm.
Can anyone verify if my boat ever did come with a lower helm option?
Thanks,
Needing a source...OTHER THAN FLOUNDER POUNDER......for what Flounder calls the "Legend" series of gauges which look very very Sea Ray OEM. The stock numbers on the "Legend" gauges match perfectly the stock numbers on my existing gauges and are even that same powder blue color on the backside...
Had:
....heads
....manifolds
....risers
....injectors (on port engine)
...............on both my 454 Mercruiser engines
.....1,000 hours on the engines
.....Bottom is cleaned monthly.
Sea trial for repairs recently.
My port engine is maxing at 3400 rpm
Strbd engine is maxing at 3800...
I need 4 gauges for my '97 370.
Thought I could buy Sea Ray matches and be done with it.
Oh boy....not that easy.
Looks like all you can buy are complete sets?
Can you get Sea Ray matches?
Can you get individuals?
Flounder Pounder the only place to go?
Thanks for any thoughts.
No matter what I do, it remains a struggle to get to the exterior center 4 ft of my bridge for waxing.
Step ladder on the side of the bridge is sketchy
for safety and still does not give me enough teach for the center.
Tried coming up from the deck but I hate putting my weight on the window...
My mechanic is almost insisting that the salon's sofa, which is located partially over the port side of the port engine, needs to be removed out of the way for the manifold and riser replacement job on the port engine.
There is a hinged engine hatch that does come up somewhat over top of the...
Had PSY (I think) dripless shaft seals installed in 2019.
Unable to use the boat hardly at all for several months due to wife's medical issues
Took the boat out finally and discovered the seals were leaking, so I called the yard and he sent a mechanic to inspect. The mechanic moved part of the...
.....of my 97. 370 aft cabin will not shut off.
Went under dash to disconnect until my bilge mechanic comes on Tues but I am embarrassingly unable to locate it despite its shrieking noise. Can't believe it is built into the bilge pump toggle switch.....it is pretty small......but maybe...
Time for new manifolds.
Question 1
Got a price of 5500.00 to do both engines with Mercruiser parts.
About right? Too high? A good deal?
Question 2
Have heard about ceramic coated manifolds for many years. Do they work? Make a difference? Worth the cost?
Thanks for any thoughts.
My Sea Ray's Westerbeke is running decently despite its 3,000 hours.
Recently, I fired it up, switched over from shore power to genny...........and nothing happened. No juice from the genny to the meters on the panel.
I checked the switch on the generator itself and it is and remains in the on...
Hoping someone could help me.
Would be grateful for the following:
......part number for the raw water pump
...... link to a parts manual for my '97 engine
Thanks so much
Looking for a Sea Ray bilge vent (Sea Ray calls it an insert) in the hull that was used from about ’96 to about ’02 on a number of sizes, 370 through 420 (these are my estimates-if you can correct my guesses - that would be great).
These vent assemblies were just glued into the hull

In their infinite wisdom and relentless search for a cheaper source, SRay plumbed my shower with almost inaccessible (domestically) 15 mm tubing and fittings.
It was a bloodbath finding these parts for my shower faucet, so I am sharing my findings in the hope it will save other people some...
