A week in the Gulf islands

Todd I may have dinghied past you and your cousin on Sunday the 8th. I saw 2 SeaRays, stern to stern, sharing a slip on C or D dock in Sidney. We were in Sidney on F dock and were getting ready to head North to Desolation. Unfortunately, our neighbors called Sunday evening to tell us one of...

    Lettering

Boatnumberplate.com. White or gray but the gray looks good on a white dinghy with gray trim. You can order on line.

What Can U Tow behind a 480 Sedan Bridge?

I towed a Zodiac 380 w/ a 40 HP Honda at speeds from 16-24 knots. One way to stop your side to side movement is to lower the dinghy engine. Of course you have to center and lock the steering wheel or the dink will pull to one side or the other. I marked my steering wheel to make centering it...

    Need some info on 400EC

I'll echo the other posters comments and add a couple of complaints that maybe specific to my boat a '95 that we owned for 5 years. Timeless lines, that boat was beautiful on the water. We bought used and the gelcoat was in rough shape. Our detail guy brought it back and I saw it last year...

What Can U Tow behind a 480 Sedan Bridge?

I used to tow a smaller inflatable with both my 400EC and my 410EC. The princples are the same assuming you are running a planing hull and towing above hull speed. Keep in mind that most manufacturers (including Sea Ray) prop their boats from the factory right on the edge. Towing a dink or...

What Can U Tow behind a 480 Sedan Bridge?

The motor weighs in at 238 lbs and the boat at 475 lbs. I would figure 800 to be on the safe side.

What Can U Tow behind a 480 Sedan Bridge?

I tow a 13.5 foot Novurania w/ a 50 HP Yamaha. A whaler would weigh more and not be as considerate to your sides and swim platform as an inflatable. We see more and more boats towing in the PNW every year from inflatables to 21 foot runabouts to larger center consoles. Each boat has it's...

    Dinghy/Tender Thread ?

Flyer, you've resurrected an old thread. I'm afraid I can't answer your question as I've never towed a dinghy with a motor small enough to remove. Plus all mine have been RIB's. I'm currently towing a 13.5 foot Novurania with a 50 HP Yamaha.

    New carpet pics in a 1996 450DA!

Frank's right, it's all about the backing. Tiara has been using the ribbed vinyl backing for several years. The carpet lays flat with no snaps. Ours is almost five years old and doen't stick or flake or slide around. A much superior product to the rubber backing. Oh, and my measley little...

    Should I Buy a SeaRay?

Why not try buying it nearer to wholesale. Not many dealers pay cash for their boats and I can't imagine the dealer wants to floor it for any longer than possible. Of course, the boat may have incentives from Sea Ray you'll never know about.

Can Marinco Y Cords Be Repaired?

Strange but true. I had the same problem several years ago and sent the "Y" to Marinco for repair under warranty. This, after I tried every thing I could think of to make it work. I had to buy a new one to use while they examined mine and it worked perfectly. Marinco sent it back and said...

    RayMarine E120 Video mod?

Not true! I have dual E120's purchased in late 2005 or early 2006 (I can't remember exactly and I'm at the office so I don't have the records at my fingertips) and I have our KVH sat picture sent to my E 120's. Works just fine, no upgrade necessary, and as a matter of fact I'm thinking of...

    Bronze transducers- bonding?

I have 2 bronze transducers: the 50/200 for my Raymarine sounder and a backup 235Furuno. Both are bonded. I don't see why they should not be bonded.

We were suppose to take delivery today but...................................

I suspect Frank is right. The boat was transported by an independent, not a factory truck so I'm sure Tiara simply wanted to get paid. The dealer did lose the franchise, after the purchase and as I recall the dealer was the one who suggested this particular bank. I complained loud and hard...

We were suppose to take delivery today but...................................

I had the same issue with Tiara that Rob had. We put our down on the boat and it was ordered in August for early Nov. delivery. The "line" was running about 2 weeks behind but the contract called for payment before the boat left the factory. I figured no way would the bank go along with that...

AIS - Anyone have, or use?

I had an ACR Nauticast B installed a couple of months ago. It displays targets on my E 120's and is much more user friendly than I expected. The menu's have several levels and I'm still learning. Lot's of info but particularly valuable for tracking ferries where we boat. It's a supplement to...

    Current Fuel Prices

It's better than last year but not where it should be considering the drop in oil prices. Diesel was as low as $1.99 including tax but has since gone up.

What is your normal cruising speed?

One of the more interesting pieces of info I learned on the internet. I knew the length of a nautical mile but the way speed was calculated is interesting. What's your source?

    KVH tracvision?

No problems going on year #4 and my wife insists on having at least one TV on all the time. I have dual E 120's and did what missnmoutains did i.e hooked the video feed to one of the 120's and the audio to the cockpit stereo system so I could watch football, news and the election coverage in...
