Do you have your (boat's) bottom painted every year?

I just went by the boat yard and my bottom paint looks pretty good, still good coverage. It was painted last Spring. I'm considering skipping the bottom paint this year. I'm in the northeast, 6 month season and the water's cold. Anyone have a bad experience related to stale bottom paint?

I see a lot of boats here in my marina with loads of barnacles, big suckers to. Its nasty, I always ask myself why someone would do that to there boat. Oh to save a couple bucks.

I keep my boat in the water year round, and if the bottom paint is prepped and applied correctly, I can usually go 2 yrs without painting the bottom. Sometimes the running gear needs to be touched up, but the hull actually holds up fairly well. I have divers about once a month in the summer too.

You should talk to others in your area. It depends heavily on local conditions.

I have two boats. . one of those two boats only comes out every other year -> and the bottom looks fine. The SeaRay comes out every year in November. . .and it's bottom looks fine, except for the outdrives, which seem to be a total mess two seasons in a row.
