I want to add one to my boat (easier to put on/off than camper top for weekly protection). I'm talking to local canvas shops and price seems to be in the $600-800 ballpark.

Can 260 owners post a photo of their cockpit cover so I can get ideas?

Snap to top of windshield or bottom? I prefer top to use existing snaps.

Can the stern part use the bungee snaps?

Thanks,

Esteban

I don't have a picture of mine but to answer a couple of your questions, yes it uses the existing snaps on the sides of the boat as well as the bungee tie downs in the rear. There are probably a few extra snaps on the sides towards the rear of the boat and there are three snaps on each side of the interior of the arch as well. The factory covers go over the windshiled and are attached to snaps all along the bottom of the windshield.

Here is a picture of mine. We had it custom made by a shop here in town. It uses all the factory camper package snaps and bungee attach points. They added the snaps at the base of the windshield.

Try going to www.greatlakesboattop.com, because I'm pretty sure they make all the bimini frames and canvas for Searay. I had to buy a bimini frame and was directed to them. I placed the order and within 2 weeks I had the frame. Good luck finding it.

It used to be that Great Lakes Boat Top wouldn't sell directly to a customer unless their boat was at least two years old. (If it was newer than that you had to order from the dealer). Is that not the case any longer?

To be honest with you I'm not sure. I had to buy one last year for a 2 year old boat that I backed into the garage without putting the bimini top down......ouch........ I found the information from just searching the internet and then found they made everything for Searay. I did call them and they did sell it and I can't remember them asking me a hull number or how old my boat was, so I guess it would be worth a try to do.

Jason... do you have poles in the middle for support? Are they needed?

Is there a benefit to have the cover over the windshield (to the bottom) vs. just snap at the top?

Thanks,

Esteban

There are two support poles for my cover. They are needed if the cover is to shed water properly.

I would have the cover made to completly cover the windshield as well to keep the direct affect of sunlight from fading things in the cockpit. Also if you have one made, make sure thay attach white cotton backing pads where the cover rests on your seats at the rear. If you don't do this, the sunbrella canvas will stain your upholstery.

No posts on mine its really tight and I don't have any problem with water pooling at all. That said I am thinking about adding them myself. It really needs to go all the way to the bottom of the windshield to keep the sun out.

I just installed mine today.
I did purchase it from Greatlakes boat tops and all I had to do is insert all the snaps in the canvas.
