Installing a new Cool Fuel 2 FPR in my 1998 370 DA with 454 MAG MPI Horizon Engines (S/N 0L006007). Merc Part Number 860349A1. The FPR does not come with the gas line connector, and that is a separate part (Merc Part Number 22-808002A1). This part looks to be a 1/16" MPT pipe nipple by 45 degree Female flare fitting. The connector includes a copper washer that goes between the fitting and the FPR. I assumed that similar to a brake line when you have a copper washer you torque it down pretty good. But I just broke the fitting doing so. I used Perfect Seal on the 1/16" MPT thread and i am uncertain what purpose the copper washer serves especially if you cannot torque it that tight. Note Merc Service Manual 23 completely skips this step.
I was able to extract the broken pipe nipple, and got a new fitting ordered, but thought i would see if anyone can give me some advice as i am uncertain how to install this fitting on the FPR.
Attached photo is Cool Fuel 2 with FPR attached. The broken fitting including extracted 1/16" nipple and copper washer are in photo.
Thanks for any help
