Essex / middle river mechanic

Phil, 91 was the last year with sliding windows. In 92 they went to port holes and curved windshields. I much prefer the windows, but the portholes allow for a stronger hull structure.
So I’ve been told, they say the long windows supported the whole upper bow deck. I can believe. After 30 years, my port window over the galley opens like new. The starboard window in the head opens an inch and no amount of trying with a rubber hammer will open it further.
