While fueling, knowing I should have figured out how to replace the broken chain on the fuel cap, the inevitable happened.

Plunk. into the drink.

and searay has no repalcement caps to buy for 40 sundancer diesel.

all attempts to find a replacement fruitless, so far.

anyone have any ideas??

That seems hard to believe that a cap from only 1997 is out of production / stock. Have you tried any genetics in the meantime?

I believe Sea Ray used a standard Perko deck plate for boats back then. Even if Sea Ray had a proprietary deal with Perko, they should be able to help. In the meantime, I think the threads are standard 1-1/2" pipe threads so another manufacturer may be able to sell you a cap to use until you can get a replacement.

This may provide an option www.tanklock.com I installed a set on my 300, they look good, quality fit and finish and water will not enter the fuel system from the key slot. They can do customs if you need it.

Not to be a smart ass, but there is an exact fit on the bottom at the gas dock. Think of the cost of your time and the amount you would pay at this point for a replacement. Then think of how much it would cost for a diver.

I dropped one last season and when I finally found one... I bought two !!!
