Have you seen this guy

I don't know if I saw this exact boat, but I know of one jet boat that pops up ones in a while with no respect to others. Last year we were anchored in Silver Bay and this guys puls up and it looked like he was cought on fire. The amount of flames were 5-10 times more than what you see on the picture, which looks like a normal operation. Everyone around was concerned. After a while this guy finally get the fire out and later on took off spraying everyone on their decks. I saw him this year at Tices during Aquapalooza.

This is the well know Northern Barnegat Bay "jet boat". I see him quite frequently around my marina. Alex he was out on Silver Bay on Sunday night right before we met up. I think this thing has jet engines connected to surface drives. Quite a sight at night, and smells like a 737 when it passes you.

That's Mike Fusco's boat Jet Set. Twin GE turboshaft engines with Arneson surface drives in a 40' Skater cat. The boat does just about 200 mph. He got the fuel system connected to dump Jet A into the exhaust ports of the engines so that he can throw those flames skyward. He hasn't had a serious fire, yet.

Fusco has an equipment rental business with everything from folding chairs to heavy duty construction equipment on Rt 202 in Flemington.

Hope that stern and his clowns were sprayed with Jet A, caught fire, and burned. Might as well get a preview of the afterlife.

Best regards,
Frank

I knew someone here would know the boat, he burns jet a what is that running a gallon. love to see that at wot :smt101

Jet A is basically kerosene. He probably can burn kerosene, too. Anyway, the fuel is pretty cheap, but turbines are pigs, so he burns lots of it. I forget which turbo shaft he has installed and the shaft horsepower of engines, but figure around 1,500.

Best regards,
Frank

I have seen this boat pulling out of Green Island. . .so I presume that's where it is slipped.

He cruised up and down Toms River on July 4th, putting on quite a show just before the fireworks. He did not stick around for the fireworks.

Personally, this style of boat is not my cup of tea. . .but it is fun to watch. (remember. . .I used have "Seeking to maximize my Carbon footprint" or some-such in my sig)

Cool videos - not sure I'd want to go that fast on the water. Friend of mine brought down 2 Kawasaki Ultra 150's this weekend and those things are faster than I really want to go! Can't imagine doing over 100 - esp. without any safety gear on.
