Honda Generator for sale

Interesting chart thanks for sharing. What I found really interesting was that of the 333 deaths 318 were in the home, 52 were in a temporary shelter...boat brings up the rear at 5 or 1% off the reported incidences Based on all the hostility surrounding the topic I would have expected much higher.

This isn't a home or temporary shelter forum so the focus is on the boating part.....and isn't 1 too many?? (Let alone 5)

I think you are missing my point. Yes 1 death is always too many but what the data suggests is that there are cases that are the exception not the rule. All on here Can attest to the number of people we have all seen using portables on boats. It is very common...percentage wise possibly as common as generators being used in other applications. I would think there were other extenuating circumstances that aren't reported such as location of the unit, lack of CO detectors ect.with those cases where deaths were reported. I am not debating the dangers or risks, but no one, from what I have seen illustrated the epidemic of portable generators on boats. How ever if a person even mentions one on this site they get jumped on by every person with an opinion on the subject. The start of this thread read generator for sale. It did not read "everyone please weigh in as I am considering using a portable generator on my boat". So all the rant writers about how bad it is should be able to back up there claims....that is really my point,

The original poster said he used it 25 times onboard. Many inexperienced, uninformed, and gullible people visit this site and they NEED to be informed of the risks and dangers. That is why this discussion needs to be in every generator thread, no matter how old it might seem to some of you.

I am f*#king sick and tired of the now common practice that every post in which folks disagree is called a rant...

No, actually the OP said; "Sure. I used it on my 25 cruiser and had it on the back." 25 cruiser is NOT 25 times.

Just sayin'

I can't say I blame MM for his reaction, and in fact I tend to agree. These days, if you disagree with someone, you are either ranting, racist, bigoted, or a redneck, or a combination of all the above. Rather than forming an intelligent argument, it's easier to dismiss them with a label.....I think it is a very sad sign of where our society stands today. IMHO. signed - a racist, bigoted, redneck, ranting American, me.

Many have died fighting for the right for freedom to rant. And there are many places in this world that don't have the luxury of that freedom.

You hit the nail on the head there Scott my friend. Heck, just try to be funny anymore, there is little sense of humor.

By the way, I appreciate your responces, but then I really liked Garys smart a$$ comments....even when he was picking on me!

All Hail to the rant. It is our God given right to voice our opinions. This is not a private site and I believe the rant is part of the strength of the site. My objection is to personal attacks that weaken the opinion and position of the offender.

So this is my rant. If you can’t take it then move to a pasty, milk toast site and have a nice life.
If you wish to rant against this post then you have risen to the level of having a brain and trying to build a backbone. I applaud you.

As for Gary, he is an equal opportunity offender. He will slay both the weak and the strong. All hail to Gary at least you know where he stands.
