Interested in changing my single battery set up to a dual battery set-up. I currently have an "on -off" switch in there now.
How difficult would it be to add another battery and install a new "dual battery switch"

Looks like may be about 150 bucks or so for parts...seem right?

I'm not sure what the switch, cable or batteries run, but I'd say that's about right for the parts. Just make sure you size your cables appropriately for the length of the run from your batteries to your switch and back. I'm assuming you can utilize the existing cables for the return and battery #1. Sounds like all you need is the positive battery cable for #2 to the switch and a negative cable. I'm no expert here, but I know bigger is better in this case.

Sorrento...Can you tell me if you could switch the oart you recommended to #1 bat, #2 bat, and the combo?

I ask this since I plan to add a "deep cycle" for running the stereo and others minor things while out and about....Admiral is always worreid I am gonna kill that battery while jammin to some tunes

The best part of an isolated systen like this is that house loads (stereo and other accessories) are isolated from the start battery which runs the engine and helm, gauges, etc. The switch is either on (both isolated circuits are on) off (everything but 24-hour bilge pump is off) or combine (emergency starting combines house and start batts). The charge combiner charges both batteries at all times, and you never have to worry which battery you are on, which battery you are charging, etc.

Since the circuits are isolated you can completely drain the house battery without affecting the start battery, and the boat will still crank from the start battery. The alternator and combiner will then charge the dead battery. When you leave the boat switch to off.
