Does anyone have a repair manual for a ZF HSW800V2 marine transmission? I own a Sundancer 380 equipped with this transmission and connected to CAT 3126 engines. Just recently the port drive will not shift into reverse. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Shawn

Sorry, the title of the search does not lead to the manual for the HSW800V2. At least that I can determine. Thanks

@dtfeld might be able to shed some light on this issue. Is it stuck in gear or simply won’t shift into reverse? If the latter you likely have a bad solenoid or even simpler, a bad contact at the helm.

There is a shop out of Florida, Marine Gears I think, that is very helpful

Hard to tell from a photo, I may be wrong (hopefully) but all of those black specs in your first post photo look like they could be small rubber particles. You might want to see if you can determine if it is rubber or just (dirt)? I would hate to see you get the reverse thing figured out only to loose a flex plate in the not too distant future. Maybe someone with your setup would know if the flex plate has rubber or springs. I can’t comment on your reverse problem, not familiar with your setup. Good luck.

Search "Control Block" on this site with my name, and you'll find a lot of info on how to diagnose this transmission.

Basically three things to check

Fluid Level, Shifting Pressure and then the Shift Mechanism (these can be mechanical or electric and not sure about the 380's). Can you confirm if you are mechanical or electric shift?

Its not hard to check these things, but there are very specific procedures in the manual. PM me your email and I'll get you the manual, and we can help work through these issues.

Thanks for the tip. It will not go into reverse. I will be diagnosing both.

Thanks Mark & Karen. It does have a flex plate coupling and the black specs are indeed dirt. Shawn

Can you confirm mechanical or electric shift?
