Omicron

Vaccines did work, but people still got polio after the vaccines because it was not 100% effective. It took decades to wipe polio out. And now polio has made a comeback as people are neglecting to get the vaccines.
This thread reminds me of a poster I saw in my dentist’s office. The patient asks, “Do I really need to floss my teeth.” The dentist relies, “No. Only floss the ones you want to keep.”

Big difference - the polio vaccine worked, right? You didn't get all those jabs and then still get polio as you do with this jab?
Very doubtful - they have to lump in those that test positive WITH covid. Car accident vitems,
The original polio vaccine was only about as effective at reducing transmission as our covid vaccines. I believe they have gotten better over time but still not perfect. Even the measles vaccine, which has been held up as the best at reducing infection, is not 100% perfect.
No idea what you are saying in the second sentence replying to my post.

Can't say for sure. I know they were clearly against any government mandates of any kind. The kids were autistic adults in their 30s that lived at home. All in the span of 3 weeks or so. So tragic. I can't imagine.

Let's compare shot records. Hardly an anti-vaxxer when I have every damn vaccine but this covid jab. And it is a jab - have you heard Boris talk about it? Hell - they had to change the damn definition of vaccine and you guys still buy into their BS...

Yep...but I'm sure they have another variant all set to go in another few months. 2022 elections are still a long way off...

Can we clarify this? Have they refused all vaccines or just the covid jabs?

The nice thing about PTO is you get to decide how to use it. You can use it for things that are important to you.
Exactly. And I wasn't willing to use it for a few sneezes, coughs and runny nose. 3 days of that and I was back to normal until I got my vax

Interesting how people profess no faith in our healthcare system yet complain about not being able to get tested and treated.

You just explained WHY people complain about our government run healthcare system.

We have another guy on here that pretends to know everything about everything but I won't mention the name. I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about.
could it be Dudley Do Right!

Again, you just continue to prove my point that COVID vaccines don’t work.

The Polio vaccine was an active vaccine. COVID vax is not a vaccine but then again you don’t know this.

Rocky, the US is not Canada although the libs are trying to make it so. Go back to to your private practice of pulling cables or whatever non related field of endeavor you dabble in.

….and you believed the poster ? :D

I was never a bullwinkle and rocky fan…. Loved every other cartoon back in the era… couldn't get my head around those two

it was funny a couple years ago my wife gave my daughter a flinstone vitamin for breakfast…. I happened to be standing there and asked my daughter do you know who the flinstones are…. She said she had no idea.

as I typed this….spell checker said Flinstone and Bullwinkle are spelled wrong

Abso freaking loutly. The US is advanced citizenship. There are consequences to your actions or inactions. If you have comorbidies, that needs to factor into your vax decision. But it should be an individual's decision since all it apparently does is reduce the effects of covid.

WRONG.

The Polio vaccine was first invented in 1953 by scientist Jonas Salk. He developed it using an inactivated virus. In 1955, as it was announced as safe and effective, a nationwide vaccination campaign began. The first vaccine however was far from being a success. Shortly after, more than 200,000 people were injected with a defective vaccine in the Western and mid-Western United States. As a result, thousands of polio cases were identified, 200 children were paralyzed, and 10 died.

It took many years before the Polio vaccine proved to be successful at preventing disease. Those who received the vaccine had built a strong antibody response to it and acquired a strong immunity that lasted for many years to come. But the success was not achieved overnight. In fact, the first version of the Polio vaccine did not prevent transmission through the nose, mouth, or gut. It took years of research to develop a vaccine that provided the ultimate protection from the virus.

It was thanks to Albert Sabin, who developed the live-attenuated oral version of the Polio vaccine in 1961 that contributed to the global eradication of Polio. The administration of the vaccine orally was not only cheap and easy, but it also successfully prevented the infection and transmission of the disease.

It was quite clear early on that the vaccines were designed and tested for the purpose of reducing disease and deaths, not eliminating transmission. The ability to stop transmission wasn't even an end point for any of the trials, reduced disease and death certainly were. Go back a few pages and you will see multiple posts quoting contemporary (to 2020) sources saying just this.
It is theoretically possible, as @sbw1 says, to create vaccines that will stop transmission and those are being worked on. They will take time if they turn out to be viable, and they might not. Right now, we're lucky to have the current vaccines, otherwise the death toll this past year would have been orders of magnitude greater.
This just an out and out lie. That is not what the leaders of this country told the people.

@sbw1 {Quote} You do know that we have never been able to develop a vaccine for the common cold right? Annual flu shots are 50% or better in a year when the strain is correctly determined and that is considered to be a good vaccine. Been looking for cancer vaccines for decades with some successes and many failures. Covid is not impossible but it is more complicated than you might think. Your best chances for staying out of trouble is to take good care of yourself. {Quote}

The cynical among us might think that there is a real financial benefit for the same big pharma to not be able to come up with a vaccine for the common cold or flu that eliminates it, they would be killing the golden goose, No?
Not trying to be a contrarian nut job, I think the miracle of modern medicine is amazing and I have the utmost respect for those in healthcare, I am just saying is hard to believe a cure for the common cold remains 'elusive' They virtually eliminated polio after all and that was way before the technological advances.
Carpe Diem
