Thanks Dean! that is a neat idea. Similarly we don't want to (permanently) obstruct the view. I've wondered if tinting the window (from the inside) would work. Maybe someone has some experience here?

THAT is a tedious job! They did a very neat, tidy and professional job. Very nice.

On a slight tangent, other than the black cover for the front windshield, are you or have you done anything to improve the privacy at night. At night with the lights on our front cover does nothing to limit the view into the boat. We dock bow first so anyone on the dock have a good view in.
@Tomco
Phifertex sells a sunscreen material that blocks 90% of the sun, You can see out but even with lights on passers-by can not see in. I have built a few and install it first with gypsy snaps that allow for a black out canvas screen to be snaped on top for when the boat is un-occupied, and you want no sun light in to damage the interior.
Check out the Sail rite video demonstrating the product.

Last summer out of desperation, I purchased automotive Sun shades(link below). I put it between the windows and my mesh screen. I also removed the metal band so it wouldn’t rust on my windows. The only thing holding it in place is the mesh screen and it hasn’t moved all summer. I’d like to find similar reflective material to fully fit the windows. What I like about it, it is easy to put in and out, it blocks nearly all of the heat, and provide full privacy. The privacy is a big factor since the front of my boat points to a restaurant.

I bought a huge roll of this foil laminated bubble wrap insulation and have made insulated sunscreens for a few boats. It can either be secured in place under a canvas or screen snapped on panel or depending on the application can be held in place by sheer tension. This picture is of a shade on the inside of a salon window on the 506 on my afternoon sun side. Easy to take down when more light is preferred. I made some for the 44DB windshield and kept them in place under the mesh screen. I did some temperature comparisons in the summer and found as high as thirty degrees difference in a closed cabin in the afternoon. I buy the material from U line in 4x100 foot rolls, cut out the shape to fit and sew a binding if I want it to look more finished.

Did mine a little of 2 years ago now using the highest quality automotive tint I could find for $900.00.

Some of the edges weren’t perfect when applied because of the awkwardness of the job which the installer warned me about but it wasn’t noticeable or anything, even now.

I haven't heard of ceramic tint before, was it an expensive process? Anything with ceramic in the name is usually at the higher end!
We did the ceramic film primarily to reduce the heat on the boat and it works extremely well. We could have gone darker but chose the maximum UV protection in the lightest tint. Love our 360 views. All windows minus the sliders were $800

I have a second cover that is non see through.

The tint seems like the way to go. I have a canvas cover, It’s covered with no light and no view, or opened all light and a view with lots of heat.

Did your boat come with the slatted wooden window blinds that can be closed at night?

I had ours tinted with the darkest, non-mirror available. I didn't want mirror because I thought it would look strange with the black frame.

Helps with the sun. Can still out pretty easily. Can still see in at night though.

That's kind of what I was looking to understand. Tinting alone would not be enough.

With the darkest tint, does it affect the view from the salon out? I wouldn't think so ... many cars have dark tint.

Replied to the wrong post. Looking for the sealant one...why can't I find that? Need to redo mine this summer.

Couldn’t find it either. Here it is again - Some pictures after the sealing was redone. I had the shipyard do it because I end up getting it everywhere but where I want it to go …

I got mine from an outfit in England called Marine Teak, sadly their website states that they have closed. Too bad as their products were fantastic and reasonably priced. Unbelievably fast shipping as well.

Damn, I miss that boat!
I did refinished it few months back and it still looks like million dollars

I saw you could purchase straight from the strut pro site.
I ordered the cutlass bearing press today. I went straight to strut pro and called them to order. I got the kit for the 2 inch shaft and 1 3/4 horseshoe for my friends boat. Two day shipping included. They are very helpful to work with. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Last summer I was wanting to help the ac out by blocking sunlight coming in through windshield. I took the privacy screen off the boat and used it to trace a tarp that was black on one side and silver on other side. Cut it out and placed it between the screen and glass. It stayed out and totally blocked sun and reduced temperature a lot. It’s easy to remove and install as needed.
The tarp was temporary while I had a piece of canvas made. I used the tarp cutout for about 6 months and finally pulled it off boat and have the canvas ready to go when it starts getting hot again.
I also limo tinted all the glass and that helps a lot with privacy and heat.

Fellas I finally got a new blackwater tank gauge sending unit. It sucks that it is not model specific, you have to cut it to lenght and wire it in , no plug. I had sea ray of Cincinnati get it for me since I could not find the part. Its a dometic. Unreal that the original part is not made or they do not make them to order in my opinion.
Aggravated . What a PIA!
