My boat developed a crack in the gelcoat along the front edge of the arch when we were transporting it cross country last fall. I've been anxious to repair it and finally had some decent weather last weekend. I used Spectrum Patch Paste - I couldn't be happier with the results!
I used a Dremmel tool to clean up / widen the repair area and applied the paste according to the directions. After the first coat I sanded with 220 grit. There were still some low spots, so I applied another coat. (drying time between coats was about 1 1/2 hours for me in 60 degree weather). When the second coat was dry, I sanded with 220, 400, 800, 1000, and finally buffed with a power buffer.
The repair is virtually invisible! I'm excited to touch up a couple more areas when I get a chance! Spectrum has a great, easy-to-apply product with stock Sea Ray colors. It sure is nice when things like this work so well!
