I have a 14 x 19 michigan prop that goes to my 1985 260hp alpha one drive, that has a spun hub. I would like to have the props re-hubbed in lieu of buying new props, but im hearing different stories on why not to re-hub a prop and break down and just buy new. Is there any valid reason why I...
Im looking for some advice on a prop issue. I have a 30' dancer with alpha one drives, when i removed my props for the winter season, I noticed that one of my hubs was depressed approx 1/2" when compared to the other. To my best guess, I probably have a spun hub or at least getting close to it...
Bruzer,
I have a 30 Sundacer that i have been doing myself for the last few years. I have always used the pink as everyone around me has. Im in Marblehead so our climate is the same. I have not had any issues. My method is similiar to yours.
The outdrive was just rebuilt lat winter, so the impellers onoy have 44 hrs on them. There was no issues at this summer while running the boat. Engine temps werre well with in normal range.
I have an 85' 30' Sundancer with alpha one drives. When I winterized the engines this fall, my starboard engine showed a temp. of over 200 deg. when the normal temp. should have been 145 degrees. I always pump through extra antifreez just to be sure, in this case it was 6 gallons. My question...
Officially In
Im officially in the water. I launched on Saturday prior to the snow and wind that came from the west. There was approx. a dozen or so boats in on Saturday. I had a great run from Catawba to Bay Point, NE winds less than 10, light chop on the lake. Just waiting for the warm...
I was able to remove the wrap 2 weekends ago and actually got the hull buffed and waxed, Hoping to launch on the 21st, possibly even the 14th. I was at Bay Point this past weekend to pick up my packet. See you on the water
I just had both of my Alpha One drives gone through this winter, pressure tested, new water pumps, impellers, orings...etc. I have noticed on only one of the drives, that a small amount of oil is leaking from a small hole on the bottom of the drive located on the leading edge, on the opposite...
I have taken my drives off this winter to have them gone trough and such. As spring approaches here, I would like to paint them prior to putting them back on the boat. Does anyone have any recommendations for type of paint or procedures.
Thanks in advance
Better days ahead
Boltman,
I agree...I was watching the weather forecast for the upcoming days, and I have never been so excited to 40 deg. and rain. Looking forward to removing the shrink wrap. Approx 70 days until we launch.
Tobermory Diving
I have dove Tobermory once. It was some of the best diving that i have done in tghe Great Lakes, but keep in mind it is cold water diving. You'll need at least a 1/4" or 7mill wetsuit but a drysuit is the preferred eay to be comfortable. Just an FYI - make sure your regulator...
Bay Point
Hey Academy 5,
I was at Bay POint on Sunday checking on the boat, since i havent seen it since i put it away in Oct. Im assuming you received your packet about the changes they are proposing at Bay Point. I'll look for you in the spring.

30' Sundancer
I agree with the many posts about bellows being bad..a common thing. I had a similiar isue this past summer, where I had water get into the gimble housing and would get water into my bildge, the 4" o-ring seal that goes in with the drive was pinched when put back on....make sure you check your...
