40 sedan bridge forum

Ha, my bad. Up on the bridge using my phone. Why doesn’t the posters info show up on my iPhone?

Mark, in the Cummins I can do the port impeller pretty easy by removing the air pipe from the aftercooler to the grid heater and pushing the throttle all the way forward. It's one handed, put pretty easy as long as you have the extraction tool for Sherwood pumps, or have SMX pumps.

Yes, but now that we both have multiple experiences with these smx pump impeller changes, we know that at 600 hrs the impellers look like new and 3 yrs is kind of my self imposed limit on impellers because if we are not traveling they sit all winter and take a set. I don’t like letting them do that more than 3 times. What ever works, just throwing out options :)

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention, I have gas engines......
They want to Cummins when they grow up!
Looking for help changing impeller on starboard (gas) engine.
Thanks CWIERT, I don’t think my arms are long enough!

Not having to pull the pump and bench install the impeller sounds like a win! I'll be pulling my at the end of this season.....it will then be 3 years on SMX

Three questions hopefully someone will have some insight into:

1. The shocks to my engine hatch door in the cockpit are shot. Does anyone know of a replacement for them?
2. My windless control switch at the helm is only working to let the anchor down. I can't bring it back up from the helm. Luckily both foot pedals on the bow work, or else I'd still be anchored out in the river. It worked fine when I put the boat away last fall. Faulty switch, or something else?
3. and most importantly... the pitcher for my blender is leaking. The factory blender still works great. But now when I make mudslides, it slowly drips out the bottom. I'd prefer to get a replacement pitcher thing rather than get a new bulky blender that takes up more precious space. Any ideas where to get a replacement?
1) I vaugly recall a part number posting in this thread. Might have been from Bill.
2) You will need to diagnose the wiring. You might get lucky and it is all up front in the anchor locker, with a pulled wire. Could be a bad swith at the helm too. 2 man job with a multimeter or test light
3)Margaritaville mixer fits perfect over the microwave....just saying ;)

Edit: this thread has p/ns for a 400db

Gas Spring lift devices are generic and not boat specific. What you need to know is the collapsed length and the open length, and amount of force.

They can be found on Amazon.

Well, looking up the part #s from from the thread that Paul posted, here's what I found. Not sure which one is for our 400DB, however. Removing and bringing one to NAPA may be the best bet anyway.

828954 CYLINDER, GAS 10PSI 7.5"EXT X 5.25"COMP
826305 CYLINDER, GAS 40PSI 20"EXT X 12"COMP
830794 CYLINDER, GAS 100PSI 20"EXT X 12"COMP

Thanks. Once I get to the boat this weekend I'll try and figure out which ones go where. I'll update with my findings.
The 100lb shock is what comes on the engine hatch. I upgraded mine to 120 lb after adding laminate flooring in place of the salon carpet.

Replacement pitcher is available online. Amazon KCPBL blender pitcher for nutone kitchen center.

Anyone know where I can get the following items?

1) Main Berth port closet light switch
2) Indirect light (stairway) cover
3) Bilge light cover (Plastic).
4) Round glass for ceiling light fixtures. As I changed the one in the second stateroom, I found one had no diffusion glass.

Thanks!

-Steve

Steve, I have a few of the light fixtures and can spare one so you can have the glass insert. Send me a pm and I will get one to you.

Just curiosity, what kind of boat you like to upgrade your beautiful Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge?. We are a couple so for us now is the perfect size, until my 2 daughters bring grand kinds then will see.

Good luck on your upgrade.

We just closed on a 2001 52' Prima Seahorse. It's a 17 knot trawler with the same cummins engines that are found in the 40' Sea Rays of the same era. Three staterooms, two dry heads + 1 day head, high-gunnel's for easy & safe access to the bow and a hoist for a dingy, large engine room and easy access through-hulls. The floors are teak an holly and the rest of the woodwork features birds-eye maple with in-laid trim. It is model number 101. I have not come across any other 52' Prima's but I did find reference to a few 45' models with two bedrooms and no day-head.

If you know anyone in the market for a 40' Sedan Bridge, ours can be found on Yachtworld.

If it's the one in Kemah on Yachtworld, looks like a beautiful boat. Enjoy.
