Advice and help with older sea ray 190br HELP!!!

Little up date Ok so got some Cold compression numbers and go new plugs in, new spark plug wires. I think numbers look good for a cold test.
  • #1 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #2 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #3 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #4 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #5 cylinder: 140 psi
  • #6 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #7 cylinder: 145 psi
  • #8 cylinder: 145 psi

Add to up date!!! Ok so got the new plug wires on and boat would not start then got the new coil on and boat fires right up on ear muffs sounded great. Then got it out on lake and boat started right up and idled great. Got out on water warmed motor up and then put hammer down boat shot right out of water did this several times and boat ran great!!! On way back to dock slowed right down to about 10mph and was coasting there for a bit and then boat started to idle down and then rev up and gave it a little more throttle seem to clear up a bit then slowed down again and as got close to dock and boat started doing it again rev up and down then died and would not start nothing no cracking nothing?? Got to dock Loaded boat up and got home. I put boat on ear muffs and noticed that coil wire on top of the coil had half come off and was just sitting on top of coil so...... this makes sense now why there was no power at the dock when tried to restart And nothing. But would this be why it was idling up and down too?

Never know but certainly could, check all the connections. How old is your fuel? Could be water making its way through. Sounds like your making progress, you'll get it.

yes if you look back at post #17 and #36 will see fuel was an issue I clean the tank out but there may be some trace amount still in system but certain can’t be much I am planning on changing fuel filters often as in maybe 2 a day when using it and see what that does. As when we first went out yesterday it ran top notch at all speeds and that was a new fuel filter I put on just before launching but know not sure if it was the coil wire or the fuel doing this lol. But I will make sure I get that coil wire secure and eliminate that problem and get more fuel filters to have on hand. Also could be an issue too is I broke the fuel tank fitting when I was removing to clean screen as see in pic so had to order one in but I make this one see in pic with a check valve but just wondering if it is maybe the check valve that it doesn’t have enough to suck it open and let enough fuel through??? But am hoping the new proper fitting comings in today

Observe the spray pattern on your 2 injectors, they should have a nice cone shape.

I looked at those before and again yesterday they have a nice cone spray down the the TB they both look even. And another thing is I put a gauge in line to check fuel pressure going from the fuel pump to the TBI it is Tee in and I have to check that cause if I remember correct that Tee is for multiply hose sizes so I think on each side of the Tee the ID is very small would this have anything to do with maybe restricting fuel to the TBI when just slowly cruising? I was going to take the gauge out and put a full ID Tee in there

This is the Tee I had in the line for the fuel pressure gauge reading I kept it in while on lake running it as you can see the ID is much smaller going through think this would be an issue? Was going to get a joiner same ID as hose just to eliminate this

Probably at higher rpm's but doubt it has anything to do with your rpm surge. Correct size T would be better. Could just be that loose coil wire.

Ok I am going to replace the Tee to proper size anyways and I think I got the coil wire secured now. Going to get couple more fuel filters just to have on hand in the boat and hopefully my proper check valve fitting will be in today for fuel tank. Some pics of the coil wire securement

What check valve?

Hahahaha half ass coil connection I think it is good myself not sure what you mean half ass!! The check valve for the fuel tank that i broke this is the new one

2 boots held together with electrical tape is half ass for sure, Think the voltage will come busting through that ? That valve is called an anti syphon valve.

Well boat ran amazing on the lake no issue at all. After fixing coil wire, taking TEE out of line and changing out to the anti Syphon valve

Well thats 2 solid 6hr days of boat running flawless!!! Finally a happy family
