Hi, Since the big storms came through here in Long Island, NY all the local canvass shops are overwhelmed, Looking for a company to send my bimini to have it copied? Tried Top Stich in Tennessee for 10 days email and call but no response.
I Can't use standard canvass companies since there are no patterns available for the 1997 / 1998 250 DA.
Thanks
John
PS: also need support poles replaced/repaired, any info would also be appreciated

I have a marine canvas business. I would never use an old Bimini top to pattern, its not the right way to do it and will yield a floppy, ill fitting top (like people buy off the internet).

A bimini top should be patterned from the frame, on the frame, it has a lot of shape to it. It does not lay flat on a table.

All my canvas people on the east coast are booked solid with work from the last hurricane/ tropical storm. Many boaters did not remove their canvas and the winds in some places were 80 mph sustained.

Try calling Jean’s Canvas in Middletown, NJ. I have had them do several jobs by mail, including making a mooring cover and a screened aft curtain, using the existing covers as models. They also fabricated a stainless bimini frame using my old aluminum frame as a model. Everything turned out perfectly. https://www.jeanscanvas.com/

We may be able to help and we are here on Long Island. You can get my info from our website www.covemarine.com and give me a call or fill out our request form and I will call you.

Great Lakes should have that stuff. Your model was made more than just '97/'98 so you could check other years, too. Check with a member here - "KevinC". He does this stuff and is in your area.

Edit... looks like I was typing at the same time Kevin was. There you go! You don't even have to go and search for him!

Thanks all... I sent all the info out to all the compies in the above-suggested post.. unfortunately I've checked before and all the canvass companies explained that 1997 / 1998 250 DA was a limited run and no one has the patterns... But who knows maybe somebody may have it stored away somewhere?

Isn't it reasonable to use the old for a pattern but not install snaps and fasteners until it's on the boat?

Actually, I was reading one Canvass duplication company lets you do just that... They actually send the tool to put the snaps on with the new canvass... Still, waiting to get an idea of what this is all going to cost? planing on retiring next year and selling the boat which is worth around 16k - 18K So, spending 5k plus would not be a wise investment...

Hopefully you can get in touch with Kevin C. (Cove Marine). He is a great guy and they do great work too.
