The story behind your boat's name

PIRATE LADY-
Wife and I big fans of Black Sails on STARZ. Anne Bonny played by Clare Paget. The ultimate pirate lady!
previous boats -
SASSY LADY-
Name of a horse on daily racing form at the time.

The owner of our boat before us always named his boats after James Bond girls.
ONATOPP "Xenia Onatopp" comes from Golden Eye.

My son is a big James Bond fan when he was little and watched all of them at least 30 times over. He and I would always walk the docks looking at the big boats. When he was six One day we stoped to look at " ONATOPP" and while talking to the owner I asked him what the name was. My son hit me on the leg and said " dont you know dad it is from James Bond golden eye"
As we walled away from that boat ( at the time we had a 26ft) My son said it would be cool if we had a boat like that ... I in turn said we will own that boat one day!
13 years later we bought it.

I liked it so we kept the name.

Our 14ft jet boat is named "Nick Nack" he was the small guy on James Bond. Our waverunner is named "Wavy"

Our first boat was named after my stage name "Craven Morehead" Then I quit doing comedy and our second boat was "Knot Funny" then we sold that and our 98 - 370 is called "Still Knot Funny"

The Crime Scene

I am a detective with a large department in Indiana. My boat is in Kentucky a couple hours south. When friends call I can tell them "at The Crime Scene".....and nobody knows if I am at work or play. The name also rings a sinister tone also, which my wife of 33 years snickers about. She would not let me name the boat Sin or Swim so I had to go with my second choice.

Please hurry up Spring time.

Keith

Ours started as joke when we bought it and got it on the trailer to bring home and I said "damn that's a big ass boat on that trailer".
My daughter said we should name it "Big Ass Boat", but as some others mentioned and as an ex Coastie, no way I was getting on the radio and saying that.
So we compromised on BABOAT our inside joke for Big Ass Boat On A Trailer

"Into the Mystic" from one of my favorite Van Morrison songs:
We were borne before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won
As we sailed into the mystic

When our last boat was totaled in a storm I planned on taking a few years off before buying our next boat. My wife loved going to Bristol, PA (about 30 minutes from our home port) for lunch, and was the driving force for us buying this boat a few months after we lost our last boat. When we were deciding what to name her, I told my wife we only bought it to go to Bristol for lunch, so we named her Bristol Flyer.

My wife and I are amateur competitive ballroom dancers. We came up with this name as a way to tie our two hobbies together.
