Kidde CO detector plug-in with battery back up under $20.00 at amazon just buy one or one like it. Just plug into any 110 Volt outlet with two AA batteries. Spend a few bucks so we are not talking about you or your love ones in the past tense. Even if you don't have a generator if you are around Gas engines you could be at risk. As much as we here about PFD, Fire extinguishers this should be another thing that should be on board.

110V won't do much good without shore power (no fumes anyway) or a genny running. But your message is great. We had the built-in, and 2 battery back-ups from Home Depot on our gas boat.

Neat idea. Looks like the 12V built in ones

i like those since they’re powered by an internal battery. I need 3 new ones ans was just about to order the Xintrex updated version of our original ones and they’re $100 each. Of course of all the things to save money on, this isn’t it, but I can’t imagine those kiddie ones wouldn’t work just as well?

I thought for you put the Honda Genny on the platform or bow, you don’t need these right?

i replaced mine with the ones that run off the 12V power as the originals in my boat, and yes they was about $100 apiece.

Just put in a Kidde with internal lithium battery. It is supposed to be guarantied for a 10 service life. It was $60 CAD. No gen but did install a new diesel heater. Looking forward to having it for our first run next weekend.

I have the xintex cmd-4s on my boat:

and they are out of their useful life, so xintex wants us to replace them with the cmd-5 and an adaptor plate:

These replacements are significantly larger than the previous unit and to my eye are ugly and actually draw attention to them.
I was searching this morning and came upon FX-4 Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Does anyone know anything about them?

I replaced my cmd-4's with the new 5's last year, and found that I didn't need the adaptor plates (sent them back). Biggest difference I noticed was not having to place a piece tape over the green light in the master stateroom.

You didn't find them visually intrusive?

I thought I would, but frankly don't even notice them. I think a lot has to do with the location on our boats, and the cmd-5's blend in better since they don't have the multi color graphics.

Thanks @TNT8808

Curious, why didn't you need the adaptor plate?

They mounted in the existing screw holes just like the directions said, and the adaptor plate would've looked ridiculous. Must be needed for some applications, but not ours. I'm planning to stop over there today, and will snap a pic for you.

Much appreciated sir

I just replaced my 3 with these 3 weeks ago. I used the mounting plate supplied and the screw holes lined up fine.

Biggest issue was there's no space recessed in the back to cover the wire connectors. I had to not screw the mounting bracket tight to the wall and allow it to float enough to get the locking tabs to engage.

Another challenge was the new unit is significantly wider than the old units and posed a challenge in my salon as the unit was mounted pretty close to the corner.

Aesthetically they disappear and on light is far more comfortable in the dark.
