CO detectors

I just replaced my 3 with these 3 weeks ago. I used the mounting plate supplied and the screw holes lined up fine.

Biggest issue was there's no space recessed in the back to cover the wire connectors. I had to not screw the mounting bracket tight to the wall and allow it to float enough to get the locking tabs to engage.

Another challenge was the new unit is significantly wider than the old units and posed a challenge in my salon as the unit was mounted pretty close to the corner.

Aesthetically they disappear and on light is far more comfortable in the dark.

I had the exact issues. I drilled out the hole in the wall enough to push the connectors back in the wall. The salon unit barely fit, but it did. It is nice that the light only blinks every 3 min I think...

I have the xintex cmd-4s on my boat:

and they are out of their useful life, so xintex wants us to replace them with the cmd-5 and an adaptor plate:

These replacements are significantly larger than the previous unit and to my eye are ugly and actually draw attention to them.
I was searching this morning and came upon FX-4 Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Does anyone know anything about them?
I replaced the 4's with cmd-5's two seasons ago. Never noticed them after the first weekend and yes, no need to tape over the light!

I don't know if the picture's just bad or not but those don't look to aesthetically pleasing to me.
I don't disagree, but I think i prefer those over the CMD-5

I don't think the CMD-5's are as big and intrusive as you're imagining them to be. I always thought the old ones were kind of ugly and way too sensitive.

@Shaps here are a couple pics of the cmd-5's installed. Sorry the lighting stinks, but the boats in storage and the batteries are disconnected.

My dock buddy bought one of the CMD-5's but when installing on his 46DA he popped the fuse. Now we cannot find the fuses. Called SR and they told us behind the 12v panel but nothing cannot find them. Going to have to go to the battery unit until we come accross the fuses, no one on the 46DA forum has responded with location.

In addition to the 3 built in units I also have 3 additional battery units with built in CO readings. Can't be too careful when you have a gas boat and spending the night on the hook.
