410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Yeah....I read a thread on CSR's facebook page last week about people spending $20-35k on "1,000 hour service" for their diesels and I thought to myself, gosh, that's 4,000 gallons of fuel for me :) I'd have to commute to work daily in my 400 to make that math work out.

Shoot, I think @SeaNile is about to drop $4k to have his diesels surveyed! I could nearly buy a reman Merc for that much cashola.

I think you diesel guys just hate money :)

I'll tell you this, I'd sooner roll the dice with no survey than drop 4k on one.

just get oil samples, check for blow by and excessive smoke especially at full power.

Kind of what I am thinking as well. Only thing is oil has been in there over the winter and i don't have a trend to look at but it's better than nothing. WOT, blow by and EGT is what I really want to see.

Well I'm one step closer to spring 2021. My new swim platform arrived this week. It got stuck in Texas last week during the deep freeze. I was convinced it was going to end up as firewood someplace. Though quite a bit of a delay, she made it through.

This thing is massive. I plan to get it out of the crate this weekend so I can install the EVA foam and my Hurley davit. But geeze...I don't feel like my boat is this wide when I'm on it! :)

Why did you get a new swim platform?

Are you going to add struts to help hold it up with the new cantilevered weight?

That's a great question. When I purchased the platform they confirmed for me it would require no struts, it would use existing mounting holes. Well, it actually shipped with 4 support struts. Initially I was bummed but I'm actually feeling much better about it now. I'm putting a beefy dinghy on the platform with it offset all the way to the aft edge and beyond. Having those supports will make me sleep better at night knowing it'll dramatically reduce the point loads higher up on the transom.

Having the struts included also pushed me over the edge on not trying to DIY install this thing. Holes in the transom below the water line...time to break out the check book :)

Good call, you definitely want those struts. I have two additional struts and I’m thinking of adding two more.

I can see my platform slightly bending near the swim ladder area when my dinghy is on the back. I’d put them on either side of the ladder area.

Size. The new one is 44" deep. Double +/- the depth of my OEM platform. I also upgraded my dinghy last fall. A deeper platform for the davit was a must-have...

I can’t wait to see it installed. I found the OEM platform to be pretty deep so this should be awesome.

These boats dig a pretty big hole so I doubt you’ll have any drag issues, did the company have any advice on the extra depth? Just curious

When you open the crate post some pics, I am considering the same project! Can I ask where you purchased it from?

Yesterday I went to my boat and spent 4 hours waxing the gunnels. ONLY the gunnels. :( It's about this time of year I'm ready to be done waxing.

When I returned home the mission for the rest of the day was to get my platform out of the box. It took me 3 hours with a prybar, mini sledge and a circular saw. Having this thing shipped to my house may have been a rather silly idea. Better decisions have been made. But I will get the flooring on and I will get the Hurley mounted...at the expense of a cobbled up garage mess for 6-8 weeks. And a wicked sore back.

This is what the platform looks like sitting on the garage floor. I'm going to need to get 4 friends, 2 priests and a rabbi to visit to help flip it over so I can work on it. It looks really nice though. I'm pretty excited about the ladder, among other things. 4 rungs and a lot deeper than the OEM rig.

Bonus...I got 50+ square feet of outdoor carpet included free! :)

I purchased this from www.swimplatforms.com. There are several boats near me at my marina that have bought from them in the past, all very pleased.

One note - I ordered my platform mid-December. The leadtimes are pretty significant so if you want one for spring/summer 2021 you may want to get into their queue sooner rather than later.

Anyone have the part number for the Atnea RPM gauges?
