Sooo as I was doing final prep to take my boat to storage I realized the sanipotti had leaked on the carpet, and not fresh water! I didn’t have access to a shop vac or anything, I had plenty of towels and soaked up all I could, then used some BioKleen fabric cleaner, scrubbed it in and wiped it up, then some deodorizing kitty litter, but I know this is going to be a mess:/ Any ideas? I couldn’t find anything in a thread here for this problem. And, I had to drop it off at the marina to winterize and store it….ugh.

Go to Harbor Freight, buy a small shop vac for about $40 and be ready for the next time. There WILL be a next time.

Rent a carpet cleaner from home depo that has a furniture hand held and get some pet odor remover from them when you buy the shampoo. Clean and rinse really well and it should come out.

if it doesn’t, burn it to the waterline.

Anyone happen to know if the head area on my boat has wood or fiberglass under the carpet?

It’s not my actual boat, it’s a pic I found online, my carpet is tan.

Was tan ... sorry I couldn't resist.

I agree that the Home Depot carpet cleaner should be your best bet. You may also use some Noflex to sprinkle on the area

You can clean that…. Don’t rip it up.
Hot water a really good rug cleaner detergent…. Look at dog stuff too they crap on carpet all the time…. They have good cleaning detergents and neutralizes

Haha, I will try the rug cleaner, thanks for the input guys.

Great idea Pirate, i will call today, thanks.

Another vendor to try would be ServPro. I have had success with a home made remedy. Take a cup of HOT water, a cup of white vinegar, combine it and mix well. Then add a tablespoon or so of Dawn. Mix gently and poor into a spray bottle. SOAK the area well, let sit 5 min or so, scrub with a brush and then use wet/dry vac to suck it up. Repeat if needed. After, take all white (no prints) paper towels and place over area 5-7 sheets thick and put some weight on them to pull out the rest of the moisture. Used this at home for the puppy until she got potti trained. Shouldn't have a color fastness issue, I never have, but you may want to try it in an area that is kind of hidden first.

I have both serv and stanley in my area so hopefully theyll be able to get in the storage facility and get that thing cleaned out

Personally I can only comment on ServPro as I have seen them work their magic on some rather nasty situations. Have never seen Stanley's work anywhere and not sure they specialize in other than standard carpet cleaning. Best of Luck.

That stinks!

Just finished the thread. I agree with cleaning it yourself or having the pro come in. You could also put in some buckets of DampRid ( Home Depot) over the Winter which may help after the cleaning. I always put in a couple of buckets in the cabin along with some Bounce sheets.

I’m assuming the tank cracked? We ended up upgrading to a 5 gallon tank as opposed to having the smaller one. It’s amazing how quick that little one fills up.

I'm pretty sure if you have carpet around a potty there's more then you think on that carpet already. :D

Might want to just invest in a carpet cleaner that has attachments for the house like a Bissell Pro Heat and clean the boat carpet once a season.

Rip it out, that boat doesn't have much rug. I always replace the rug on new to me boats. Fresh start
