Should you buy a gun or not?

Any semi-auto can suffer a Type 2 malfunction if limp wristed, doesn't matter brand or quality. A proper grip is crucial.

Yep...XDS 45 is famous for this. It's a LOT of kick for a little pistol...

All good brands listed here make some great products. Pick whichever ones you shoot well, run it through its paces and train / practice as often as you can.

Who said I carry a Glock? Not sure how to decipher your other sentence.
Sorry about that!

I misread it. You said you WOULD carry one not that you DID.

Someone else already explained my statement about Sig.

You can practice a lot via dry fire. Practice racking, drawing, aiming, bugger fingering etc. you can get plastic bullets to practice unloading etc.

Any lightweight gun with a large caliber will be more likely to malfunction because of this. The kickback is more severe and that can lead to malfunctions

I buy American made as much as I can. There is plenty of reason to buy offshore when there is nothing comparable made in America. I got into firearms when the XDS came out and just stuck with Springfield. The XDS was first of its kind. And since then, no one else makes compacts that are also full size when used with a full size magazine with a grip extension.

Hellcat to P365 - no comparison. P365 has striker safety issues so I'll stick with the Hellcat. I do own some S&W long guns though...

I looked up this item ( striker safety on Sig). It’s not really an issue in the field after 100’s of thousands sold and more live fires than one could count BUT this video makes a huge point for me and could cause me to go Glock.

Great point you bring up.

See video on the first post.

No worries. As far as Sig being German, I wasn't up on their business history. I just knew they were built with American hands in NH. Used to be Virginia and Arkansas before that I guess. CMO claimed them to be an American company. I don't like that. Just like Makers Mark. Now an offshore brand... Well, not just like because they sold out. Don't claim to be American if you're profit checks get deposited elsewhere. I don't need to hear everyone's New World Order/One World BS speeches either. I'm aware of how businesses work.

Sig Sauer Inc. while an American company, is a subsidiary of L&O Holding, a German company that also owns Sig Sauer GMBH KG (German) and Sig Sauer AG (Swiss) along with a number of other European businesses. Like it or not, Sig Sauer guns while made in the US, are the products of a German company. That said my impression from shooting friends who work at Sig is that the German parent lets the US company pretty much do as it wants now that the DOD is the company’s single largest customer.
FWIW, I have Sig P226 that is stamped "MADE IN W. GERMANY". That pretty much dates the gun.

Hickock45 is surgical with a firearm. I wonder what $$ of ammo he's gone though in his lifetime to get that proficient?

Love the backstrap safety on the SA HD's and prefer it over Glock.

For those hung up on Croatian built...if someone makes a superior product, I'll buy it even if made elsewhere....I won't buy something I don't believe in for some sort of faux/theater patriotism especially considering most of all materials likely come from elsewhere anyhow.

My step-son is a detective and is on the dept CERT team and has quite a few guns, including XDS, about 5 Glocks and a few others I can't remember. But he bought an Israeli made gun called IWI that he really likes. I fired it a few times. It is nice and shoots real good but not good enough for me to go buy one.

+1000, especially if you are using it to protect your life or the lives of those around you.

One thing I have not seen mentioned in all of this is how the gun fits in your hand, how the backstrap lies against the meat of your hand and the web between your thumb and the pad of your palm.

The wrong fit, even by a tiny amount, can make a difference in how well you shoot. Glocks fit me real well. Sigs, not so much, HK not at all.

Is there a safety lock on that holster? I want to make sure no one can grab and pull out of the holster. I’ve seen it happen in demos.

It's a POCKET holster!!!

If someone gets their hands on it without you stopping them, you're about 1000x dumber than I think you are and I doubt even you could be that big a moron.

On second thought, you probably ARE that dumb as somewhat >99% of holsters don't have a "safety lock" on them.

And no, capTard, a thumb-break is NOT a safety lock.

DING DING DING!!!
We have a winner!!!!

I understand that it really is a global ecomony, but still try to buy American as much as possible, and don't worry too much as long as it is at least built/assembled here, which gets to be a joke as my F250 Super Duty was friggin assembled in Mexico for crying out loud!!!

PS: that EXACT thought is why I giggle like a school-girl every time a F'n toyota hits the wall during NASCAR races:D:p:D:p

100% agree, but would also add that the grip angle of whatever you learned on/use the most will seriously affect your muscle memory.

Stand out at 100yds and give me a 1911 and you're in grave danger (Hell, give my my Colt 1903 with microscopic sights and you're in danger).
Stand at 25yds and give me a Glock :)eek:) and you're perfectly safe.

Are you sure your F250 was assembled in Mexico? I thought they were all built in Kentucky like my last couple were.

I have seen a lot of CSR members showing off some hot European wheels over the years. And most of them are not made in the US. I guess there are two sides to every mouth - sometimes more.
