NEW TO ME 05, 360 DA,
The anchor locker hatch closes but
when I twist the lock to latch it, it does not catch under the deck ,(pic 2)
it’s almost as if the pawl is a little short ! It actually touches the
rubber seal but doesn’t extend under the deck . I did all the
adjustments to the fullest.
I may need a longer pawl (pic1) on the latch or I was told to put a
catch plate ??? (pic3) I’m just wondering if this is just a problem to my Boat or has this
happened to others and what did you do about it?

If I'm understanding correctly you have tried adjusting the pawl lower (using the adjusting nuts) to get it to clear under the deck? Is the pawl bent?

Your other option is to reverse the pawl and then readjust.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, we tried everything. I flipped the part around. I readjusted the whole latch so the power will extend farther. I adjusted it up and down. I flipped it upside down. Tried everything it’s just a hair short I did find a company that sells a 4 inch pawl , which I believe is a little bit longer. I might try that or I’m gonna have to put a metal bracket across that corner so it’ll catch on to the bracket . I don’t know how the previous owners missed that.

I don't know. It doesn't look like it was just replaced, either. If reversing the pawl doesn't work (I'm surprised it doesn't?)... what if you bent the pawl a little bit - I can't imagine it's that far from working?

I have never seen one that did not have some kind of catch plate similar to the one you pictured. Normally, the catch plate has elongated slots for the screws that also offer a little adjustment.

That’s what the mechanic said at the storage place I’m keeping the boat that there should be a plate, but my friend has a 02 360 and his does not have a plate. I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem , and I’m sure I can get it to work. I want to make sure. It doesn’t fly open when you get caught in big water , their could’ve even been a plate and it’s in the anchor locker somewhere underneath all the rope and chain. I’ll have to look closer. Thanks for your response.

From the factory... sometimes there's a plate - sometimes not. You'd find screw holes if it was originally there. My guess is this a "sometimes not" case. Your parts manual (can download it from SR's site if you don't have the original) would give the answer. That said, it certainly doesn't mean you couldn't add it if you wanted to.

From the pictures, it sure does look like there's plenty of room to make it fit as-is, though - especially with the pawl reversed. But sometimes pics are deceiving.

I agree with the other comments above but I will take a look when I can get down to the boat and report back what's in mine.
