14 1/4 x 21 on a 05 185 v6

[Water Bug]

Anyone try a merc or TP 14 x 21 for this boat? The 14x23 came with it and I'm getting 4400 at WOT w/2-3 persons & 3/4 tank of gas. I plan to double check the tack reading again today to be sure with only myself on board. I have the smart tabs already so the 23 is not an problem - just thought the 21 would let the engine run more efficiently all around...

not answering your question but joining in on sorta the same issue ,200 sport w/v8 4200 wot ran it yesterday. --i have the same pitch prop as you do. do you know if a 14.25/19 pitch 4 blade could be used with 4200 wot

I don't have any experience with 4 blade props but sounds like correct direction with lower pitch...

I have a 2006 185 sport and I'm seeing 4600/4700 at WOT with my 14 3/8 x 18 pitch prop on smooth water with the 1.81 gear ratio outdrive. I would think you would be fine running a 21 pitch and maybe even a 19 pitch high five prop.
