Hi all. Hoping someone can shed a little light onto a recent problem I have been having.
I have a 2004 Searay 185 Sport with 4.3L carburated Mercuiser. It's been a great boat, but I am now having a problem with it blowing the ignition fuse. It starts right up and idles just fine, but when I rev the engine, the fuse blows.
I've tried replacing the ignition coil. I've unplugged all the gauges to see if one of them was causing it. I've unplugged the alternator, just the small wires that go into the ignition circuit. At one point I unplugged the diode on the wire harness. With no diode the problem did not happen. But after purchasing a new diode and installing it, the problem happened again.
From the wiring diagram it looks like the ICM, the fuel pump, and the oil switch are also part of the ignition circuit. Any chance it could be one of them or maybe the wire harness itself? Is there a way to test those items without having to buy replacements just to see if it fixes the problem? Looks like the ICM is not even available any more.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks in advance.
