Hi All:
My 1981 310 Vanguard barely turns to starboard now. Maybe a half turn of the steering wheel and VERY stiff. If I turn it as far as it goes it locks and is very difficult to steer back to center. My mechanic says it should be changed over to hydraulic at a cost of $2000. Any ideas of what the problem is ? If it is just the cable, anybody know a part number? Any other tips you may have. On another site they said to put some white grease on the part that moves in and out at the end of the cable (dont know what that part is called). I did that with no difference at all.
