Don't know how many were made but from what I understand considered a rare boat
I purchased this boat apx 20 years ago ,
Fisherman , -
small cuddy cabin with head under center seat , Adult could not stand only bend , two could
lay out and sleep , RUFF IT ,
Mine came with the 4 cylinder 488 Mercruiser , Alpha 1
Never fails at boat ramp , People would say NICE BOAT , never knew Sea Ray made a walk around cuddy , Looks like a Whaler
Great memories fishing with my kids , then my grandkids .
Trailering all over Florida fishing
Never ventured far off the coast , SEA TOW calls many times . That engine had a bad rap ,
Sea Ray Company changed the Fisherman name too LAGUNA .
Laguna had same body style / cuddy / IO .
Then OB, same cuddy cabin
Eventually Lagunas were mfg with center consoles / OB
1984 ( original ) engine was done ( low compression ) I was done dumping funds
Covered boat until I decided what I was going too do,
4 cylinder ? parts hard too come by expensive
6 cylinder ?
bracket and OB ??
Back then would always say How can I put 5 thousand dollars into a new engine
Boat is not worth more then 5 thousand ??? Makes no sense ?
All of us boaters try too do our own work , Taking into a dealer shop you hope the work
would be better then SHADE TREE CL repair guys , but paying $ 130 an hour ??
SO we learn a lot doing it our selves ( when possible )
5 Years ago I purchased a 31 ft cruiser Twin gas volvo penta , ( NEVER AGAIN ) Its my condo, Sleep aboard , hang at marina. I really miss a small fishing get dirty boat ,
Making small talk with guy at marina , he had in storage a almost new 3,7 Mercruiser
with ( 17 ) hrs, self contained cooling 4 barrel Rochester carb LIKE NEW , JUMPED ON IT . A DROP & GO my engine decision was made easy for me , Lot cheaper
When I pulled old engine discovered the transom was mush , Never had any indication, no cracks , DAMN , Engine room now is empty , gimbal off , started transom work ,, ??
Engine mount is trash , glass over wood ,
Stringers ?? but all the wood in engine room area is soft , foam seems wet were I can feel ,
Buying similar styled boat Grady or Whaler from the late eighties early nighties nice fishing boats are also old ,,
Sending out too a shop ?? could come back like a new hull , with almost new engine could be like a new boat ??
Hate too take too land fill keeping trailer ??
