I have a 1988 Sea Ray Seville 18' with a 135 hp Mercury outboard. Last year it was starting ok but I could only get 8 mph. Then, after several minutes, it would act like it was "kicking in", kind of getting full power for a second or two. After several minutes it would finally get full power and I could go 45 mph. I changed the plugs, wires, voltage regulator, rectifier, and checked the fuel pressure. None of that helped. This year it isn't starting at all. It is getting fuel but no spark. I suspect it is the stator, but how can I check the stator? And is there anything else it could be?
