HI guys, I am selling my 1986 Sundancer 300 to buy a 1991 sundancer 310. Does anyone have this boat and willing to share the good and bad points about this model. has twin inboards with 7.4 L engines 780 hours.

Thanks

Welcome to the club - we have the same boat and love her. She has plenty of room and is great in the water (both flat and rough). With the big blocks, when you put her down, she will get up and move (but you can also see the gas gauges move also). This gives you plenty of muscle in rough water or the ability to pull the throttles back and plane nicely across smooth.

Be mindful that these years are known for hatch and stanchion leaks - thus staining the interior headliner and hull side fabrics. The deck is cored and if the water penetration is severe enough, you will have soft core and deck spots - not unrepairable, but not fun either. Have a complete hull survey completed and make sure the surveyor takes hull moisture readings everywhere (inlcuding immediately around the hatches and stanchions.)

Thanks so much for the info, I will check as recommeded. Maybe re bedding all the hatches stanctions would be a good idea as a preventative measure. I am looking at 780 engine hours, what do you think of this amount?

As you suggest, rebedding the hatches and stanchions is going to be needed regardless. What you want to be looking for is a wet foredeck core (only determined with a hull survery and a moisture meter).

With engines, a mechanical survey focusing on compression will answer that question. If they are close to spec and all within a couple of pounds of each other and have some record of being maintained, I would not turn away from the deal - just remember that they are not new and are not going to last forever.

They are great motors but thirsty and I only have one!...100 gallons goes quick, Mike.

Order an extended swim platform now, best upgrade you will ever make IMO. I have a 92 w//outdrives, nice boat and handles well for its size. Good luck!
