Folks,

I have a 1993 27' SeaRay Weekender that needed a new canvas top.

Earlier this year, I ordered all pieces of the canvas from Great Lakes Boat Top (GLBT, who is the OEM manufacturer of the canvas top and the SS framework) even though I suspected the SS framework had been altered and that the canvas may not fit.

I received the canvas and am very pleased with it. But, as I suspected, the SS frame had been modified and the canvas did not fit.

I've been collaborating with GLBT to get the OEM dimensions of the SS framework (primarily the dimensions of the main SS bow), and they have been helpful. But we've reached a point where additional information from them is considered to be proprietary. I understand and respect that.

I now need to pursue other avenues of getting the information. I will certainly reach out to SeaRay, but does anyone know of others that I can reach out to?

I could, of course, order the entire SS framework from GLBT, but that is around $1,000 and I am trying to avoid that.

Thanks,
Bob St John

Bob, I seem to recall in your other thread you had gotten the measurements for what you needed and you seemed sure you had what you needed. Did something change? Can you quote the dimensions here for reference and then add onto that with what you're needing? That may help others help you.

Other owners are likely going to be your only avenue if you can't get whatever it is you're looking for from GLBT. But of course, ANY info you get from any source needs to be taken with a grain of salt as it may not be correct.

Suggestion... fab a mock-up out of 1/2" PVC till you get it right. You don't need any connectors - just tape. Using a heat gun, gently warm the PVC to bend it to match a template of the bend using your existing framework... or use the trial and error method.

$1000. Thats a steal! Pay the man, save yourself aggravation, welcome to boating.
I had a new front canvas piece custom made $1200 and that was cheap.

Hey Larry ... I remember your valuable input from the previous thread. I couldn't find my previous thread, and I now suspect threads "expire" after some period of inactivity on the thread, and that's too bad.

This is what I got from GLBT:

Bob these below are for the oem frames for this canvas. On the main bow that mounts direct to boat. The frames you have are definitely not the oem. For ours there is only 2 bows and 2 support poles and 2 front straps. You have an extra frame for sure.

The rear supports are measured at 21 1/4 inch in shortest position since they are adjustable.

Our main bow cut length before the ends are put on are 10ft 5in and the 2nd bow is 8ft 5in cut lengths and then they are bent and ends added.

The 68" and 77" dimensions were what my main bow already had. The 22 3/4" height really surprised me ... way to short I thought after measurements on my boat. So I arbitrarily about 2 1/4" and cut my main bow to 25" height. I put the canvas on the on the entire frame (including the secondary bow, and the straight supports) and the canvas overlapped the windshield and transom snaps by about 3" at each end. I concluded the 22 3/4" height (already adjusted to 25" was too short. So I added about 5" - 6" back in (creating a total of about 30" - 31" height), and that seems about right. But, even after many, many of adjustments of the connecting points between the main bow, the secondary bow, and the straight supports I cannot get the the new canvas properly for the front and back snap points ... frustrating.

And that is why I am looking for any additional "dimensional" information.

Trivia ... SeaRay tells me that documents, etc., on boats that are out of production is very limited and refers me to this user group ... nice!

Thanks,
Bob St John

Not expired. http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...weekender-oem-canvas-related-question.112139/

My weekender is in its slip, but I can get any and all dimensions you want for the front bimini this week. I have the rear camper canvas in the garage still, but it doesn't sound like you need that one.

Just saw this thread as I am not on here frequently. I have an oem bimini in the garage and would be happy to send whatever measurement you might need.
