Ok, long title, simple question. Just below my each row of 12v switches on my dash is long thin plastic piece that is back-lit and identifies what each switch is supposed to do. It seems like my son likes to press on them to drive me crazy and they are now on the loose side. I've removed the dash snapped them back in place and pressed the foil sided tape back in place behind them but they keep popping inward.

Anybody know what the oem install is supposed to be? Glue? Pressure and the tape behind? Before I really screw the plastic up I'm looking for suggestions.

Thanks!!!

And I know, I know, the rusty nut on the dimmer is lame :smt021

some crazy glue will do the trick or use some good clear tape and tape plastic to metal
clear tape will backlight to go through

I have the same problem on my 1995 27' SR.

I tried crazy glue and double stick clear tape and neither worked.

The light strip and the lens it's normally attached to seem to be extremely slick.

On the positive side although the light strip is not affixed to the lens it still seems to illuminate if satisfactorily.

Next I'm thinking of some kind of silicone adhesive. Maybe the kind they use to bond the glass on fish tanks.

I'm looking forward to other suggestions.

I repaired my 95 290 DA using heavy duty foil tape.

So you just taped the over the light strip pressing it onto the lens?

I did try that with black electrical tape, but it did not stay. Perhaps electrical tape was a poor choice.

However, I would hesitate to use foil tape because I assume it's conductive. With all the wires and connections in that area I would avoid any conductive tape.

Maybe a non-foil duct tape is a possible alternative. If no one has a better idea, next time I have the switch panel removed I'll try duct tape.
