Help,

This is my first boat and I know little about it - and I believe I am 1 of 3 owners in the uk so im struggling to get help.

On a recent visit to the boat I put the kettle on to boil some water - and whilst it was boiling I put the heater on too. When i put the heater on i heard a trip like sound and all the on board electrics went off. I went to the shore box and ensured that the trip switch was on but still no power on board. I suppose the question is - is there an on board trip switch and where is it.

Thanks,

Ken.

Hang in there Ken. I'm sure a 300 owner (or someone with the knowledge) will point you to the exact location of the on board breaker that you have tripped.

In the meantime you can use the advanced search feature. It may take a few minutes but everything you'll need is here on this site.

ps - Welcome to CSR.

pps - Multiple posts won't help. In fact it irritates the elders. Hang in there.

Have you tried resetting the GFI breakers on the AC outlets? On my boat there is a GFI on the outlet just behind the two burner stove in the galley, one under the shelf in the head, and one more under the cockpit cooler to port.

Hi - yes I was on shore power at the time - I have never actually sailed the boat yet as it is stuck in a marina off the river trent in derbyshire (im just arranging for it to be transported to hartlepool marina in the north east of england). I think that the outlet breaker is ok - but will check it. Many thanks for your help.

I take it the easy way to check the outlet breaker is to use someone elses or is there another way?

Ken.

Hi Cocktail time - I have a feeling im replying to these posts the wrong way - anyway thanks for your reply to my problem. I dont really know where the GFI breakers are on my boat but Im gonna look in the same places that you have mentioned. When you say behind the two burner stove in the galley do you mean its visible or is it under something - im just looking at a picture that i took of the galley and i cant see any trip swiches there (i am unfortunately 140 miles away from my boat until I get her transported up to Hartlepool marina in the notth east of England).

I will look for the one under the shelf in the head - that should be in the same place I would have thought so hoping thats straight forward. When you say the cockpit cooler - would you mind explaining what that is - if you mean an external fridge I dont have one in the cockpit area - anyway I have such a lack of knowledge about my boat I am literally starting from knowing absolutely nothing at all. Even the manual that came with it does not seem to match with whats on board (maybe thats because it has in some way been modified for use in england - I dont know).

Anyway one things for sure - I really appreciate your help - infact seeing similar boats gives me a little comfort.

Thanks,

Ken.
